A concise talk urging the essence of profound practice. A concise talk urging the essence of profound practice. The collected songs of instructions from Jetsun Tāranātha. Oṃ Svasti! Immeasurable compassion pervading the ten directions, to the teacher Gautama, the victorious one, I prostrate. From the path of the Sugatas, countless beings, guiding them, to the all-knowing son, I also pay homage. With unchanging wisdom, for as long as samsara exists, without passing into sorrow, constantly abiding, I prostrate to the unchanging body of the Lama. Supreme speech, empty of sound, inexpressible, the Victor's words, well-spoken, a precious lamp, one speech, for all beings to be tamed, according to their thoughts, understood individually. Though the mind does not move from the sphere, yet by the power of aspiration, the manifested body, activities spontaneously accomplished, continuously, you who control the ocean of realms, the essence of all Buddhas, Precious One, I prostrate to the venerable Lama. With inconceivable transformations, please hold me with inseparable compassion. Turning away from the dharmas of samsara, if you wish to attain the ultimate Bodhi, listen to these words. There is the decree of the Arya Dharma, if there are a few people with faith in the human lord, they may come, consider whether it is so in your heart. If it is definitely Dharma and agrees with your heart, then you need the karma of faith and wisdom. The endless wheel of samsara revolves endlessly, in this life, experiencing suffering without end. Experiencing all kinds of hardships is meaningless. Having committed uninterrupted deeds, falling into the Avīci hell, even if you count the end of births, who can finish it? What haven't you done yourself? There is not one deed that you haven't done. Where is there any suffering that you haven't experienced? Even if the severed heads, cut off in one place, were piled up into a mountain, how could they fit in this three-thousandfold world? There is no end to the suffering of samsara. If you think about the suffering of the hell realms, you cannot bear it even for a moment. If you strive now, there is a way to reverse it, but spending your life in laziness, someday you will helplessly fall into the abyss of the lower realms. Then, even if you regret it, it will be too late. The messengers of Yama will cut your body into pieces, and then it will be put back together.

Being split into hundreds of thousands of pieces, burned by fire between flesh, bones, and marrow, passing through many eons in a cycle of repeated revival and burning. Plunging into the depths of boiling bitter water, being plowed back and forth countless times on iron ground, etc. Thinking of these sufferings, one's hair stands on end involuntarily. Afflicted by cold, the body cracks open like lotus petals. The lifespan extends to hundreds of thousands of Samayas. Facing these, what means of endurance do you have, you heartless one? For hundreds of years, there is not even the name of food or drink. Due to strife, one's own body is wounded countless times. The suffering of heat and cold is difficult to bear. If born in the realm of the hungry ghosts, what is to be done? In that place without refuge, they devour each other. Due to the fear of enemies, they are always terrified and confused. Suffering the pain of slaughter, cutting, and enslavement. Thinking of the state of animals, it is unbearable. Even if born as a human, there is only suffering. Strife, conflict, poverty, and ruin, etc. The suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death is beyond imagination. Even if one obtains the status of a Chakravartin king, one will be born in hell. High and low, rich and poor, there is nothing to rely on. Gods and Asuras, the form realm and the formless realm, even if one obtains these, there is no reliance, and ultimately one will fall into the lower realms. Death, transmigration, strife, and so on, there are many sufferings. This is the first part of the talk on suffering. All these sufferings are not without cause, but arise from karma. Due to negative karma, one falls into the lower realms. Without prediction, there is no fruition. It is said in the scriptures that virtuous deeds lead to rebirth in the heavens. The picture of worldly karma is clear. Therefore, it is essential to strive for what to adopt and what to abandon. Do not despise even small virtuous or non-virtuous deeds. Having obtained this difficult-to-obtain human body, do not spin the wheel of suffering. Because it is uncertain when one will die, one should immediately strive to do good. Clearly, one has no autonomy, yet one acts as the head of servants, how laughable. For those who abandon vows like the roots of grass, boasting about practice is disgusting. The diligent efforts of those who do not please a qualified lama are pitiful. Those who do not abandon the desire for greatness and the eight worldly concerns, their so-called renunciation is a great lie. If the red wind of seeking fame is not calmed, what is the benefit of going into seclusion? If partiality towards self and others increases, what is the point of saying one is practicing, it is just an old deception. On the surface, one pretends to be a good person with excellent character, but in the end, one stirs up disputes, truly a source of ruin. The pure conduct of a Dharma practitioner,
