What should be the object of meditation, focusing on what basis? It is the suchness of reality. And it must be determined as follows: The mind is completely generated by the delusion of ignorance. All these phenomena, included in the three realms of conventionality, which appear like a dream, have never existed in the reality of things. But in the appearance of the deluded mind, each arises infallibly from the assembly of its own causes and conditions. Therefore, the phenomena included in conventional grasping and being grasped are merely illusory appearances, and have never existed from the beginning. Although they do not exist in this way, until the appearance of delusion is purified, even the subtle causes and effects arise without confusion in the very nature of delusion. This is the object of generating the correct view from the very beginning. That is, after gaining certainty about the infallibility of cause and effect, by practicing acceptance and rejection as it is, one abides in the correct view of the world, blocks the door to bad destinies, and opens the door to higher realms. Furthermore, since one realizes that these appearances are merely delusions and have never existed from the beginning, the thoughts of grasping at reality and grasping at characteristics are purified in the realm of reality, and transcendental wisdom will arise correctly, and the seeds of afflictions will also be abandoned. Thus, although all the phenomena of conventional grasping and being grasped are not established from the beginning, this wisdom of the ultimate, true realm of reality, the self-knowing, self-illuminating nature of reality, free from elaboration, is the true emptiness, the reality of all knowable things, the naturally luminous, and the Tathagatagarbha. This is established from the beginning as the nature of all phenomena, and because it is the object of experience of the wisdom of the noble ones, it is true. Because it is immutable, it is constant and stable. Because the reality is not inverted, it is suchness, the unerring suchness. Thus, the reality now, although it is truly established, and constant and unchanging, is free from all elaboration, and cannot be expressed in words, and cannot be grasped by the mind. Therefore, at the time of equipoise, one should not meditate by thinking, "This is true, this is constant." Equipoise is non-

Without clinging to any thought anywhere, one must abide in a non-contrived manner. The basis, the reality of what is knowable, is such that the Dharmata-parinishpanna, the Tathagatagarbha, abides in all sentient beings. That itself is the nature of mind, and it alone abides and exists in the reality of things. Other than that, all appearances and sounds perceived by samsaric beings, and all the dharmas of the path, are not established in the reality of things but are temporary. Because of the key point that the basis is such, when practicing the path, temporarily conforming to the face of delusion, knowing that all of the three realms of samsara are of the nature of suffering, impermanent, unstable, and decaying. The object of clinging to "I" and "mine," the so-called "self," is not established. Knowing that these dharmas are empty of an agent, arising from the meeting of various causes and conditions. By repeatedly meditating on that meaning, all the pleasures of samsara are without essence. Therefore, a complete thought of wanting to definitely escape from samsara will arise. Following that, generating the special thought of not only liberating oneself from such an impermanent, suffering, and meaningless samsara, but also liberating all sentient beings. In conjunction with love and compassion, by repeatedly meditating on that, a non-artificial Bodhicitta will arise in the mindstream. Thus, compassion arises for sentient beings experiencing suffering, and loving-kindness arises wishing to establish them in happiness. Furthermore, taking the benefit of such sentient beings upon oneself and wishing to accomplish it with courage. Placing the sole intention of benefiting others in one's heart, the Bodhicitta wishing to attain Buddhahood. When these become strong, then the uncommon Dharma of the Mahayana has arisen in the mindstream, which is the beginning of entering the path. From then on, such as The place where suffering is experienced, which is the realm of the world. Who experiences suffering, which is sentient beings. By what cause is suffering experienced, which is karma and afflictions. How is suffering experienced, which is birth, old age, sickness, and death, and the nature of suffering of each of the six realms. All of these, because there are imprints of ignorance in their respective mindstreams, in the deluded appearance
