To consider the essence and Dharmakāya as permanent will turn into a belief in permanence. The reason for this is stated in the Uttaratantra: "Saṃsāra and Nirvāṇa, because of realizing equality, are permanent." In the commentary on this, Asaṅga quotes a passage from the Avataṃsaka Sūtra: "If one views conditioned phenomena as impermanent, that is viewing them as annihilation, and it becomes an incorrect view. If one views Nirvāṇa as permanent, that is viewing it as permanence, and it becomes an incorrect view." This quote is explained literally. This is a reversed argument. The reason for this is that it is a time when explaining that the Dharmakāya with two purities is pure, self, blissful, and permanent, especially when proving permanence. If one views the Dharmakāya as permanent, it will turn into a belief in permanence and become an incorrect view. Then how can it be a means of understanding the equality of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa? Whose tradition is it to present something that is not a proof as a proof of the permanence of the Dharmakāya? Furthermore, following the Avataṃsaka Sūtra, it says: "The Dharmakāya of the Tathāgata is the perfection of permanence, the perfection of bliss, self, and purity. Any sentient beings who see the Dharmakāya in this way see it correctly." And, "Bhagavan, those sentient beings are not reversed; they see correctly. They are the heart-sons of the Bhagavan." How can there be a direct contradiction with this? Although they claim to be wise, they are merely filled with pride. Furthermore, those who consider the final teachings as definitive say, "If one views conditioned phenomena as impermanent, it will turn into annihilationism," and "If one views Nirvāṇa as permanent, it will turn into eternalism," which are incorrect statements. Viewing conditioned phenomena as impermanent and viewing Nirvāṇa as permanent are not annihilationism and eternalism, but are correct views. If explained in this way, it will not contradict the earlier and later sūtras, and Asaṅga's commentary will also not contradict itself. Even if it is said that presenting the view of impermanence as the proof of the permanence of the Dharmakāya is like presenting the presence of a yak in the north as proof of the presence of a tiger in the south, and it is unrelated to the proof of the equality of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, therefore...

It is called an unrelated tree stump. Therefore, this teaching should not be explained exactly as it sounds, nor is it a wrong translation. So, how should it be understood? Its meaning is this: Regarding the nature of conditioned phenomena, if one clings to impermanence that diminishes, it becomes a nihilistic view; regarding the nature of nirvana, if one clings to permanence that is added, it becomes an eternalistic view. If it is said like that, it becomes an incorrect view. Shakya, Maitreya, and Asanga agree. Then, there is nothing to be removed from this, and there is nothing to be established. As it will be said below, regarding the nature of samsara and nirvana, there is neither addition nor subtraction, neither removal nor establishment, because it is the naturally constant nature, realizing the equality of suchness, therefore it is the Dharmakaya. Therefore, the Dharmakaya with two purities is established as the transcendence of permanence, that is the meaning. If explained in this way, the earlier and later sutras do not contradict, and it agrees with the scriptures. If you think that the earlier and later commentaries do not contradict, and combining the nature of samsara and nirvana is your self-knowledge, then it is wrong. Because Asanga's commentary says, "The gate of the Dharmadhatu, this is actually samsara itself is nirvana." So it is established. Then, is the reduction and addition self-knowledge? It is not, because the commentary says, "The impermanence of samsara is not reduced, and the permanence of nirvana is not added." So it is established. This is the good explanation, the wish-fulfilling jewel, that the assemblies of many wise leaders of the snowy land have not found, but I have found from the ocean of Asanga's teachings. Said: The definitive meaning spoken by the Buddhas with their sons, The root lineage lamas have clarified, Like the moon rising on a white ground, Again, Manjushri Grags pa made it clear. This is an intermediate verse. Also, some people think that if the third turning of the wheel is the ultimate definitive meaning, then what is the use of teaching the first and second turnings of the wheel? It would be reasonable to teach the ultimate meaning only at the beginning. If one is capable of being a vessel for teaching the ultimate, then the King of the Shakyas, who is the master of skillful means and compassion, would not be stingy or conceal the Dharma. Although he very much wanted to teach, it was because they were not capable vessels. The reason for this is that the Sugata-garbha, which is permanent and stable, is not an object of conceptual thought, and sentient beings were previously
