After saying this, the king began to practice, and everyone was amazed. Then, the king went to the top of the palace and performed great offerings every day, practicing Vajrapāṇi (Sanskrit: Vajrapāṇi, Tibetan: ཕྱག་ན་རྡོ་རྗེ་, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: Vajrapāṇi, Chinese literal meaning: Hand-holding Vajra) for six months. As a result, a red Vajrapāṇi statue made of sandalwood descended from the sky and fell into the king's hands. The king was very happy and said, 'In the past, I have practiced, and in this life, I have seen this deity due to karma. I will not abandon it even after hundreds of kalpas. I hold this deity with a devout heart.' He said this and made offerings. Consistent with the dream, many scriptures fell on the top of the palace. The king offered and studied these scriptures, and from the eighty-second chapter of the Māyājāla Tantra (Tibetan: སྒྱུ་འཕྲུལ་རྒྱས་པ་, meaning: Expanding Illusion), he realized the chapter on the practice of Vajrasattva. Relying on these, the king began to practice and personally saw Vajrasattva (Sanskrit: Vajrasattva, Tibetan: རྡོ་རྗེ་སེམས་དཔའ, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: Vajrasattva, Chinese literal meaning: Vajra Hero). Vajrasattva agreed to grant him all the desired achievements and said, 'You should understand the meaning of these scriptures.' The king requested. Vajrasattva said, 'Son of the family, your teacher Vajrapāṇi will appear and reveal the meaning of these scriptures.' After saying this, he disappeared. Then, Vajrapāṇi personally appeared on the top of Mount Malaya, demonstrating the conduct of a yogi. His retinue, those of noble lineage, prayed, 'Ema! How wonderful! Great holy one, who are you? Where do you come from, and how did you appear? Relying on where, and going where? What is your purpose and intention?' Vajrapāṇi replied, 'I never move, I am the immovable Vajrasattva (Sanskrit: Vajrasattva, Tibetan: རྡོ་རྗེ་སེམས་དཔའ, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: Vajrasattva, Chinese literal meaning: Vajra Hero). Moving with compassion, I am the sole protector of the three realms.' After saying this, he made the retinue rejoice. Then, the retinue praised, 'Like lightning flashing across the sky in the dark clouds of night, you come from the beginningless and endless Dharmadhatu, to this pure great path. You are the holy one who accomplishes meaning. You hold the secrets of the saints and are known as the master of sacred secrets.' After they praised in this way, they asked, 'How does the lamp of the saints go out? How do the secret instructions of the saints arise?' Vajrapāṇi replied, 'To eliminate the suffering of ignorance, to light the lamp in the world, to obtain certainty, to determine the essence of Bodhi, to clearly explain the intention, when the time for taming has come, for blessings, to spread the lineage through skillful means, for special actions, to clearly show the great teachings, to completely cut off the stream of karma, to elaborate on the intention...' (Sangye Sangwa)。" ], "english_translations": [ "Then, having established it through the twelve modes of the arising of Secret Mantra, he taught and empowered the tantra classes that are as vast as the sky. The lord of Lanka also assisted in the compilation of these teachings.", "There are several ways of explaining this, but what is said here is according to the essential general meaning as stated by the Omniscient Dharma King (Kunchen Chokyi Gyalpo). Then, in succession, it was taught to the Vidyadhara King Dza (Rigdzin Gyalpo Dza), King Indrabhuti of Oddiyana (Orgyen gyi Gyalpo Indrabhuti), King Uparaja of Zahor (Zahor gyi Gyalpo Uparaja), and the bhikshu Kukaraja of Central Country (Yulwui Gelong Kukaraja). All of these attained the spontaneously accomplished vidyadhara level in that very lifetime. Indrabhuti taught it to his son Shakya Bhuti and his daughter Goma Devi, and these two also joined the ranks of the ripened vidyadharas. Kukaraja divided the tantras into eighteen classes and taught them to Nagarjuna and the sage Bhashita (Drangsong Bhashita), and they attained the mahamudra vidyadhara. Regarding these eighteen tantra classes, although there are different ways of identifying them, according to the view of the Great Omniscient One, they are divided as follows: the body tantras: Elephant King Rapture (glang po rab 'bog), the body speech tantra: Elephant King Entering Water (glang po chur 'jug), the body mind tantra: Buddha Union (sangs rgyas mnyam sbyor), these three are the body tantras; the speech body tantra: Piled Mountain (ri bo brtsegs pa), the speech speech tantra: Lotus Empowerment (padma dbang chen), the speech mind tantra: Moon Secret Bindu (zla gsang thig le), these three are the speech tantras; the mind body tantra: Peak Assembly (rtse mo 'dus pa), the mind speech tantra: Emanating from One (gcig las 'phros pa), the mind mind tantra: Guhyasamaja (gsang ba 'dus pa), these three are the mind tantras; the quality body tantra: Burning Lamp (sgron me 'bar ba), the quality speech tantra: Nectar Samaya Hundred Thousand (bdud rtsi sa ma ya 'bum sde), the quality mind tantra: Shri Paramadya (dpal mchog dang po), these three are the quality tantras; the activity body tantra: White Garland (dpal phreng dkar po), the activity speech tantra: Mamo Tantra Ritual (ma mo rgyud lung), the activity mind tantra: Tamala Hundred Thousand (ta ma la 'bum sde), these three are the activity tantras; the general body tantra: Lasso (thabs zhags), the general speech tantra: Samaya Arrangement (sa ma ya bkod pa), the general mind tantra: Secret Illusion Net (gsang ba sgyu 'phrul), these three are the general tantras, making a total of eighteen. It is said that these were initially separated by Vajrapani and taught to King Dza, which is also explained in the Sanskrit sound of the general meaning of tantra, so there appear to be two ways of explaining it. In any case, Nagarjuna taught it to Padmasambhava, and Padmasambhava taught it to Vimalamitra, and although these two appeared as panditas for the sake of taming beings, in essence, they are spontaneously accomplished vidyadharas.", "Furthermore, Goma taught it to Bitrikamala, and he taught it to Buddha Secret (Sangye Sangwa)." ] } --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
