It should be upheld and taught. Why? Because the Dharma-nature of all dharmas is simply abiding. As stated in the Guhyasamaja Tantra: 'Sentient beings and Buddhas are not equal, who is to be accomplished and who is the accomplisher?' And: 'All things are like illusions, the maker of birth and destruction, he is not tainted by sin because of it, and merits are the same. Whoever has neither sin nor merit, that is called enlightenment.' etc. Similarly, in the Great Perfection of Self-Arisen Wisdom Tantra: 'One's own self is the mandala of the deity, because it is self-manifested, one should not offer to the deity, offering becomes a bond. Offerings, mudras, etc., are obscurations to the deity. One should not change the mudras, changing them is losing precious jewels. One should not abandon samsara, abandoning it will not lead to Buddhahood. The Buddha is not elsewhere, there is nothing other than awareness itself. Samsara is not elsewhere, everything is gathered in one's own mind. One should not engage in contrived virtuous deeds, engaging in them becomes a bond. Stupas, temples, and other contrived virtues should be abandoned. Actions that have been done should not be grasped, letting go leads to liberation. The yogi who has abandoned activity should not be abandoned, abandoning him is abandoning the Thus-Gone One. The path of the truly enlightened Buddha should be known in this way by all.' Thus, when based on a view that rests on the meaning of great equality, the Dharma-nature that is free from all activity, even contrived good and bad deeds are shown as they are, in their equality. As the explanatory tantra says: 'There is no good to do, no evil to abandon. The wisdom that is free from both good and evil is the Dharmakaya. One should not do good, doing good does not lead to Buddhahood. One should not abandon evil, abandoning evil does not lead to the attainment of Buddhahood.' Having heard such teachings, many even give up their lives because of it, but they cannot be blamed for not understanding, because they have not truly comprehended the nature. For example, the noble one in the Sutra on Revealing the Conventional and Ultimate Truths says: 'Manjushri, in the ultimate truth, what is the same as the Tathagatagarbha, the Dharmadhatu, and the profound non-arising? In the ultimate truth, the five inexpiable sins are also the same as it. In the ultimate truth, what is the same as the Tathagatagarbha, the Dharmadhatu, and the profound non-arising? In the ultimate truth, all views are also the same as it.' Such teachings do not mean that one should abandon all aspects of practice, because the self-tradition Mind Section tantra 'Gold Refining on Stone' says: 'All Sugatas are mothers,' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is the sole path for all, the foundation of the ocean of practices such as discipline and other perfections. Although this great doctrine exists, which does not abandon the means of practice as a branch of wisdom, it does not temporarily abandon the conventional truth for the sake of being skilled in means. However, when one directly realizes the nature of the ultimate truth without error, without falling into the bias of alternately adopting the two truths, the manner in which all the truths of the path to enlightenment, such as the ten perfections, are gathered into this very nature, as stated in Rangshar: 'The spontaneously accomplished Dharmakaya, dispels the darkness of diminishing light, transcends the extremes of permanence and annihilation, cannot be grasped by darkness or light, transcends the dharma of one and many, transcends the dharma of appearance and non-appearance, is free from the words of birth and death, where would there be error and obscuration of self-grasping? It cannot be removed even in thought itself. The ultimate of Prajnaparamita, gathers into the clear and luminous Dharmakaya. The ultimate of Dhyana Paramita, gathers into the state of placing a lamp on a stand. The ultimate of Virya Paramita, gathers into the self-born meaning of non-thought. The ultimate of Kshanti Paramita, gathers into directly cutting through appearances. The ultimate of Shila Paramita, gathers into dwelling alone without companions. The ultimate of Dana Paramita, gathers into releasing the clinging to samsara. The ultimate of Pranidhana Paramita, gathers into having no hope or fear in appearances. The ultimate of Upaya Paramita, gathers into the state of placing awareness on a stand. The ultimate of Bala Paramita, gathers into being covered by a web of delusion. The ultimate of Jnana Paramita, gathers into appearing without conditions.' Similarly, as stated in the Sutra of Brahma's Special Mind Questioning: 'Non-grasping is generosity, non-abiding is discipline, non-guarding is patience, non-exertion is diligence, non-thinking is meditation, non-objectifying is wisdom.' And in the Kunje (Kun byed): 'In the realm of uncreatedness, where the essence of meaning is truly without action, seen by the great yogis, in the mandala of primordial self-purification, the mandala of deities, the fruit from the cause, is perfected by the four branches of approach and accomplishment, and abides spontaneously in the nature of gathering and integration.' If the nature of all phenomena abides in the unconditioned realm beyond good and evil, bondage and liberation, then are the teachings on white and black karma and the principle of cause and effect unnecessary? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
