Even if the practice of meditating on selflessness is not explicitly taught, if one wishes to practice meditating on the remembrance of deities, then one should perform the recitation, practice, and mantra repetition according to the Shravaka Vehicle of Avalokiteśvara Padmagtsugtor. Even if one does not do so, there is no fault of transgression. 'Manjushri who upholds the Shravaka discipline' refers to Shariputra, 'Avalokiteśvara who upholds the Shravaka discipline' refers to Ananda, and 'Vajrapani who upholds the Shravaka discipline' refers to Maudgalyayana. Their emblems are also: Ananda holds a fan, Shariputra holds a jewel, and Maudgalyayana holds a lotus. One should meditate on the meaning of selflessness that has been established by the view explained above. As it is said: 'This appearance is merely an illusion. It does not exist in reality. It is not permissible to be extremely nihilistic. Therefore, I have not taught it to childish Shravakas.' Furthermore, to counteract attachment, after making the mind suitable for shamatha by meditating on ugliness, etc., one should practice vipassana by meditating on the Four Noble Truths and the Sixteen Aspects of Impermanence. Third, to enhance through the practice of companions, one should take the precepts of whichever of the seven classes of individual liberation one has entered as the path, abide in the qualities of training, abandon afflictions like enemies and thorns, accept the ten virtues like medicine and food, and rely on the ten perceptions. The ten perceptions are: for killing, the perception of it being like a potent poison (destroys when consumed); for robes, the perception of them being like bandages for wounds (inseparable from the three Dharma robes); for afflictions, the perception of them being like poisonous snakes (destroys upon contact); for food, the perception of it being like eating human flesh (do not crave); for gain and honor, the perception of them being like nets and traps (fear being ensnared and flee); for the lama and the Three Jewels, the perception of them being like precious jewels (offer with reverence and pray); for the Dharma, the perception of it being like a good path (go in peace); for the Buddha's teachings, the perception of them being like gold (rare and precious, obtaining it is meaningful); for discipline, the perception of it being like ornaments (cherish and store); for the manifestation of dharmata, the perception of it being like raising a lamp in a dark cave (do not abandon diligence in samadhi). One should not be separated from these perceptions. Fourth, the way the results manifest is: obtaining the temporary results of Stream-enterer (Sotapanna), Once-returner (Sakadagami), and Non-returner (Anagami), and obtaining the Arhatship of remainder with the two wisdoms of knowing exhaustion and knowing non-arising, which are the ultimate results of remainderless. Each of the four results is divided into two, entering and abiding, thus there are eight. This is the basis of the division. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the perspective of the basis, it is called the four pairs of individuals; from the perspective of classification, it is called the eight single pudgalas. Third, the view of one's own school. Third, the view of one's own school is, as stated in the 'Ornament of Clear Realization': 'To abandon the concept of the object of grasping, and because of not abandoning the grasping, the path like a rhinoceros horn with a basis, should be known as correctly gathered.' As such, realizing the selflessness of the individual is similar to the Shravakas. On top of that, although one realizes that the object of grasping of the selflessness of phenomena, the subtle particles, are without inherent existence, one still clings to the momentary mind as ultimately real, and believes that samsara and nirvana are interdependent cause and effect. Therefore, it is called realizing one and a half selflessnesses. Kawa Peltseg's Stages of Views states: 'Likewise, the vehicle of one's own school, the twelve external realms are merely illusory, particles are also not established as having directional parts, knowing that consciousness is momentary and follows after.' Second, how to measure and practice with the instructions of the path: [From the root text of 'Secret Essence Heart Drop':] In the self-school, in the bindu at the eyebrow center, from one to twelve, teach the order of the appearance of interdependent forms. By meditating on arising and reversing, all phenomena appear as interdependent. Except for indivisible consciousness, by realizing the selflessness of phenomena, cut off the root of samsara from its base. Samaya! From one's own eyebrow center to the front, in the twelve white bindus, clearly visualize the ignorant old blind woman, the potter making pottery, the monkey in an empty house, the person entering the womb, the city of the six senses, the touch of male and female making 'o', feeling like an arrow piercing the eye, craving like drinking milk porridge, grasping like picking flowers, existence like conception, birth like being born, old age, death, decay, and a dead corpse. These are the interdependent arising, and then old age and death dissolving into birth, etc., are the interdependent nirvana of reversing. Finally, abide in the state where ignorance vanishes into the aimless dharmadhatu. During these times, if one is weary of meditating on the interdependent forms, then the arising is twelve red bindus, and when reversing and dissolving, transform them into white and dissolve them. This is taught during the guidance of the abiding meditation. These are the instructions for taking interdependence as the path, namely the inner and outer interdependence. The result of the outer interdependence is known from the result, and by examining where that result came from, it came from the flower, from the petals, from the sprout, from the seed, related to the cause by six, and related to the condition. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
