Then, visualize the earth goddess (Skt: Pṛthivī), Bertama (Tibetan: བརྟན་མ་, meaning 'steadfast'), golden in color, holding a precious vase at her heart, riding a wild boar, surrounded by earth lords and nāgas, invited to come and reside here. Then recite: 'Great goddess, mother of the world, adorned with precious and complete empowerments and supreme ornaments, bracelets and anklets making pleasant sounds, worshiped by bodhisattvas. Please accept these offerings and bestow blessings here! Oṃ, Pṛthivī, Devi, Samaya, Jaḥ, Hūṃ, Baṃ, Hoḥ! I offer this immaculate and delightful divine substance offering to the goddess. I beseech you to grant me this land! Oṃ, Pṛthivī, Devi, Arghaṃ Pratīccha Ye Svāhā!' From then on, offer flowers, incense, lamps, perfumes, food, and music. Flowers (Puṣpe), incense (Dhūpe), lamps (Āloke), perfumes (Gandhe), food (Naivedya), music (Śabda pratīccha ye svāhā). Then recite: 'All the actions and special qualities of the Buddhas, the saviors, as well as the earth and the pāramitās, goddess, you are the witness! Just as Śākya Simha, the savior, vanquished the armies of demons, may I also conquer the armies of demons and draw the mandala. I, Vajradhara so-and-so, for the benefit of sentient beings, will establish a great mandala on this land. I beseech you, goddess, to grant me this land!' After such a request, visualize the goddess replying: 'Yogin, use it as you please!' Then, offer one torma (food offering) with A-kā-ro (藏文:ཨ་ཀཱ་རོ,梵文天城体:अकारो,梵文罗马拟音:akāro,汉语字面意思:阿字) to the goddess, and another to the white side, and recite: 'All the gods and nāgas residing here, as well as yakshas, rakshasas, or other beings, I will requisition this land. For the purpose of the mandala, please allow me to use it. I beseech you to be a great aid in the complete accomplishment of the great mandala activity!' Then, offer another to the black side, and recite: 'On this land, I, the teacher, will establish the king of illusion mandalas. Obstacles residing on this land, do not remain here, move elsewhere! Oṃ Sumba ni Sumba Hūṃ. Gṛhṇa Gṛhṇa Hūṃ. Gṛhṇa Pāya Gṛhṇa Pāya Hūṃ. Oṃ Ānaya Hoḥ. Bhagavan Vīrya Rāaja Hūṃ Phaṭ.' Then recite: Oṃ Vajra Mus. Request the goddess and her retinue to return to their respective places. After dispelling the obstacles, clear away rubble and bones, and then level the ground, making it as smooth as a mirror, with an area of about one fathom (Tibetan: འདོམ་, a unit of measurement, approximately equal to the length of outstretched arms) or adjusted as needed, sloping slightly to the east and north. Circle the top and surrounding area with the right palm, and recite: Oṃ Hana Hana Hūṃ Phaṭ. Visualize light emanating from the hand. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Purify the impure. By reciting 'Om Bhu Kham' (Tibetan: ཨཱོྃ་བྷུ་ཁཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ भू खं, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ bhū khaṃ, Literal meaning: Om, Earth Space), all directions become space. By reciting 'Om Medhini Vajri Bhava Bandha Hum Hum Phet' (Tibetan: ཨཱོྃ་མེ་དྷི་ནི་བཛྲཱི་བྷ་ཝ་བྷནྡྷ་ཧཱུྃ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ།), all earth becomes the nature of Vajra. By reciting 'Om Vajra Raksha Raksha Hum' (Tibetan: ཨཱོྃ་བཛྲ་རཀྵ་རཀྵ་ཧཱུྃ།), protect and stabilize. Then, holding the Vajra and bell, sing the song of 'Hum', and perform the Vajra dance, with the right leg bent and the left leg extended, circling the Mandala in a dancing posture, visualizing the wrathful deity. Hold the Vajra and bell at shoulder level, as if raising a skull staff, or rotate it like a wheel, or shoot it like an arrow, or hook it like a hook, or throw it like a lasso, and recite the mantras of the five principal deities and the four gatekeepers, along with Sumbhani (Tibetan: སུམྦྷ་ནི་). This is the ritual for the earth. For land that has already been tamed, such as cattle pens, houses, and temples, this ritual is not necessary; it is to be performed for land that has not been tamed. Second, regarding the excellent arrangement: On the Mandala, place drops of perfume and bouquets of flowers, equal in number to the deities, and recite the seed syllable (Tibetan: ས་བོན་, Sanskrit Devanagari: बीज, Sanskrit Romanization: bīja, Literal meaning: seed) or root mantra of each deity. Decorate with banners and curtains, etc. If it is a precious or clay vase, the five vases represent the five empowerment vases, transforming them into the colors of the five families, and placing the marks of their respective emblems or seed syllables on them. Make the action vase white. Banish the obstacles of these vases. Incense with Gugul and scatter white mustard seeds, filling about two-thirds with pure water. Add five grains, five ambrosias, five jewels, five medicines, and five fragrances, a total of twenty-five vase substances. Tie the neck with silk or red cloth. Decorate the mouth with a wish-fulfilling tree. Adorn with a Vajra cord (Tibetan: རྡོ་རྗེ་གཟུངས་ཐག་), and place it on a high platform. Around the platform, widely arrange the outer and inner offerings. Furthermore, gather the Vajra, bell, Kusha grass, protection cord, five ambrosia pills, toothpicks, and other items needed here. Third, regarding the preparations, there are three parts. First is the preparation of the vase: Visualize yourself instantly transforming into the Primordial Buddha Samantabhadra (Sanskrit: Samantabhadra) in union, blue in color, holding the Vajra and bell. Sprinkle nectar blessed water from the crown of the head with Kusha grass, reciting 'Om Vajra Amrita Kundali Hana Hana Hum Phet' (Tibetan: ཨཱོྃ་བཛྲ་ཨ་མྲྀ་ཏ་ཀུཎྜ་ལཱི་ཧ་ན་ཧ་ན་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ།) three times. Then recite 'Om Svabhava Shuddhoh Sarva Dharma Svabhava Shuddho 'Ham' (Tibetan: ཨཱོྃ་སྭ་བྷཱ་ཝ་ཤུདྡྷོཿསརྦ་དྷརྨ་སྭ་བྷཱ་ཝ་ཤུདྡྷོ྅་ཧཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओँ स्वभावाः शुद्धः सर्वधर्माः स्वभावाः शुद्धोऽहम्, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ svabhāva śuddhoḥ sarvadharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho'ham, Literal meaning: Om, self-nature pure, all dharmas self-nature pure I). All inner and outer phenomena are emptiness and great bliss. From emptiness, from 'Pam' (Tibetan: པཾ།) arises a lotus, from 'Ram' (Tibetan: རཾ།) arises the sun, and from 'A' (Tibetan: ཨ་ལས།) arises the moon. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
