Please listen! May you protect and save us from the harm of malicious intentions of other people and non-humans! In particular, may all that we pray for and think of be accomplished as desired, in accordance with the Dharma! This is a general prayer. In particular, visualize the Jowo Rinpoche (the Shakyamuni Buddha statue enshrined in the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa) and its emanations, or the supports of body, speech, and mind of the Buddhas, with Shakyamuni Buddha as the main figure in their respective temples, and recite the root text: Supreme One, the crown jewel of all gods and humans, Bhagavan (Blessed One), Tathagata (Thus Gone One), Arhat (Worthy One), Samyaksambuddha (Perfectly Awakened One), Shakyamuni Buddha! This is the successor to the Shakya (Shakya clan) kings! As the glory, protector, and supreme refuge of all beings, until the end of samsara, may you not be affected by the calamities of earth, water, fire, and wind, May you remain steadfast in this place! Having remained here, May you become the object of prostration, offerings, and prayers for all sentient beings, and become a supreme guide! Furthermore, those and the excellent supports of the inexhaustible adornment wheels of body, speech, and mind, As the glory, protector, and supreme refuge of all beings, Until the end of samsara, may you not be affected by the calamities of earth, water, fire, and wind, May you remain steadfast in this place! Having remained here, May you become the object of prostration, offerings, and prayers for all sentient beings, and become a supreme guide! Relying on the power, strength, ability, and glory of merit of all of them, May the calamities of earth, water, fire, and wind and all harm be completely pacified! Pray with strong intention and scatter flowers. Although not explicitly stated in the text, if desired, one can recite the Dharani (Total Retention) as an aside. Visualize light radiating from the bodies of the Buddhas, touching oneself and all sentient beings, purifying all sins and obscurations, increasing life, merit, wealth, and the qualities of learning, contemplation, and meditation, and blessing the continuum. Recite and visualize thus: Om Namo Bhagavate Shakyamunaye Tathagataya Arhate Samyaksambuddhaya Tadyatha Om Muni Muni Maha Munaye Svaha And, the mantra for long life: Om Ye Dharma Hetu Prabha Va Hetun Teshan Tathagato Hyavadat Teshan Cha Yo Nirodha Evam Badi Maha Shramana Svaha --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recite 'Ha sra ma na ye sva ha.' Furthermore, even though it is not needed in the usual offering ritual, sometimes, in order to benefit oneself and others, if one is willing to practice the nectar vase, then in the preparation stage, place a vase filled with essence, with decorations and a neck cord, in a convenient location such as in front of oneself. At the end of the formal recitation, visualize again that limitless rays of light emanate from all parts of the body of the teacher and retinue, and dissolve into the nectar water of the vase, so that merely touching it can pacify all adversities and has the power to increase all auspiciousness and happiness. Recite and contemplate in this way, and then recite the two mantras according to what you have learned. Afterwards, use the water blessed in this way to wash the supports of the body, speech, and mind of the teacher, temples, residences, places, etc., and drinking or bathing in it oneself and others can pacify adversities and increase the auspiciousness of benefit and happiness. For the bones and cemeteries of deceased beings, scattering this water can purify sins and obscurations, and attain the state of heaven and liberation, etc., with immeasurable benefits. The third part is the conclusion: Offer thanks, confess faults, pray for long life, make aspirations, and speak auspicious words. Among these five parts, the first part is further divided into two aspects: offering the torma and performing prostration offerings. First is the offering of the torma: Sprinkle clean water on the tormas, by the power of the truth of the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha), the blessings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the power of completing the two accumulations (merit and wisdom), and the power of the pure truth of the Dharmadhatu, may this offering please the guests who pervade the sky, become a great ocean of nectar with five desirable qualities, and become an inexhaustible treasure of the sky. After blessing in this way, offer the first torma, reciting 'OM GURU SHAKYAMUNI TRI RATNA SAPARIWARA NAMA SARVA TATHAGATA AVALOKITE OM SAMBHARA SAMBHARA HUM' seven or three times. Then offer with 'OM VAJRA ARGHAM... SHABDA PRATICCHA SVAHA.' Offer the prayer: 'This torma ocean of nectar, I offer to the teacher and the Three Jewels, please accept it with compassion and bless me.' Similarly, offer the second torma, reciting 'OM MAHA STHAVIRA SAPARIWARA NAMA SARVA' three times, and then offer with 'OM VAJRA ARGHAM' etc. Offer the prayer: 'This torma ocean of nectar, I offer to the noble assembly and retinue, please accept it with compassion and accomplish the activities of benefit and happiness.' The third torma, recite 'OM DHARMAPALA SHRI NATHA SAPARIWARA' three times, and then offer with 'OM VAJRA ARGHAM' etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
