Generate a thought of anger, and investigate where it comes from. If it arises from the state of Samahita (equanimity), is it like a mother giving birth to a child, or like one lamp generating many lamps? Or is this mind itself a thought? Observe the way anger manifests, is it clinging to reality, or does it have no recognizable essence? Ultimately, is this thought stopped? If stopped, by what means is it stopped? If it dissipates on its own, does it dissipate on its own, or does it disappear due to external conditions? By analogy, analyze and examine various coarse, subtle, and very subtle thoughts. The unimpeded manifestation in the mind, does it arise as a thought, or does it merely appear as a thought? Understand that thoughts and mind-essence are inseparable, like the ocean and its waves. Second, from the state of Samahita, allow any external appearance to arise, and observe its place of origin, dwelling, and cessation. Are appearance and mind the same or different? If different, what is the relationship between them in terms of inner and outer, above and below? Do they each have an independently existing essence? Or are they merely appearances? If they are merely appearances, then there is only one mind, and it is contradictory for it to appear as two. If appearance and mind are inseparable, then does the mind become the appearance, or does the appearance become the mind? For example, just as a clear crystal ball reflects various colors due to external conditions. From the unimpeded mind, before it is purified, when encountering external conditions, various things appear, but their essence is not other than the mind. Having determined that the various appearances are the mind, be certain of it. Third, in the state of Samahita, allow the mind to rest naturally, and observe the nature of that resting state. Then, from the state of resting, allow a thought to suddenly arise, and observe its nature. Observe the differences between the states of resting and moving, in terms of identifying their place of origin, dwelling, and cessation. If there are differences between these two states, what are the differences in terms of good or bad, praise or dispraise, and whether they are established or not, whether they are identifiable or not? If there is no difference, then are they similar or different? If different, then in which of the three times (past, present, future) is there no difference? If they are similar, then how are they similar? And so on, observe and analyze. Both are mind-essence, rootless, unidentifiable, self-aware, self-purifying, self-luminous, and emptiness, with the same essence. Therefore, there is no need to accept or reject resting and moving. When resting, rest in the present moment; when moving, move in the present moment. Be certain that luminosity and emptiness are naturally liberated. Fourth, in the state of Samahita, think like this: 'All kinds of thoughts and appearances are the unimpeded play of mind-essence.' Now, focus on observing what the nature of this mind-essence is, and observe its place of origin, dwelling, and cessation. First, it is not produced by a cause, it is rootless from the beginning. In the middle, it does not... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It does not abide in any shape or form, and cannot be identified. Ultimately, when it is realized that it leaves no trace, like a self-sounding bell, it is determined that it has been separate from arising, ceasing, and abiding from the very beginning, possessing the essence of clear emptiness awareness. Whatever arises, it cannot be adorned with good, nor can it be defiled by bad, without the need for modification, addition, or subtraction, it is self-knowing and self-liberating. The sequential guidance of calm abiding (śamatha) and insight (vipaśyanā) of the main part: ra pā zha, gya gya gya. May I meet with those who possess good fortune, wisdom, compassion, and diligence. The second root is to introduce the co-emergent wisdom, making it stainless, self-luminous, and nakedly visible, which is divided into three parts: introducing mind-essence as co-emergent; introducing thoughts as co-emergent wisdom; and introducing appearances as co-emergent wisdom. The first part is: At the time of introduction, in a secluded place, arrange the gathering feast (gaṇacakra) and excellent offerings to the guru, yidam, and ḍākinīs. Offer maṇḍalas, golden flowers, and other offerings as available to the teacher. The student single-mindedly performs guru yoga and supplications. Allow them to meditate as before. Oh, when your mind remains in its unaltered natural state, all the arising of thoughts will subside and remain in its natural state, this is called calm abiding. In this state, without falling into a state of non-attention, the essence of mind transcends the realm of speech, thought, and expression, that clear and vivid self-aware consciousness is called insight. In reality, there is no difference between calm abiding and insight, calm abiding is also the unidentifiable self-aware and self-luminous insight; insight also remains in its natural state, unpolluted by the signs of thoughts, calm abiding is also the same. Therefore, calm abiding and insight are united, because they are perfected in a single moment of mind. This is the intention of the Buddha, the mind of sentient beings, the co-emergent wisdom, stainless, self-luminous, and nakedly visible. All the sūtras, tantras, treatises, and pith instructions ultimately converge here. The second part is: When the mind is the essence of clear emptiness, when experiencing the thoughts of happiness and suffering, the essence of thoughts is also the unidentifiable clear emptiness. When observing that it is no different from mind-essence, thoughts do not need to be abandoned, the essence does not need to be deliberately established, the thought itself is clear emptiness, this is seeing the co-emergent nature of thoughts, or thoughts arising as the dharmakāya. Previously, determining the basis of thoughts and transformation. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
