This was clearly copied by me, Chöje Lingpa Yeshe Rolpa Tsal, from the miraculous patra (palm leaf scripture) handwritten by Guru (Padmasambhava) on yellow cloud paper from China. From 'The Quintessence of Great Bliss, the Swift Path to Enlightenment in One Lifetime': Instructions on Introducing the Mahamudra, Immaculate Self-Shining Naked Seeing. From 'The Quintessence of Great Bliss, the Swift Path to Enlightenment in One Lifetime': Instructions on Introducing the Mahamudra, Immaculate Self-Shining Naked Seeing. (Tibetan) Homage to the glorious Heruka. Having previously trained the mindstream through common and uncommon paths, when one becomes capable of entering the meaning of the supreme vehicle, the actual instructions on introducing the Mahamudra, Immaculate Self-Shining Wisdom Naked Seeing, have three parts: the order of guiding, the order of introducing, and the order of subsequent cultivation. The first has two parts: guiding through the door of calm abiding (shamatha), and guiding through the door of insight (vipashyana). The first, guiding through the door of calm abiding, also has two parts: with an object and without an object. With an object also has dependent and non-dependent. The first is: the body should be in the seven-point posture of Vairochana: legs in vajra posture or bodhisattva posture; hands in equipoise; spine straight, body upright; shoulders open; neck slightly bent; tongue lightly touching the upper palate; eyes lowered to the tip of the nose, without moving. Then, in terms of gaze, place an object such as a pebble or a piece of wood in front, without analyzing or examining it, simply focus on it with a relaxed mind, without ever straying or wandering elsewhere, and allow the mind to settle there. At night, focus on a black dot the size of a pea on your forehead. If it is difficult to find a place to settle or if you feel tired, then visualize a Buddha image the size of your body in the sky in front of you and focus on it. The second, without an object, is training in the movement of breath, and without breath. The first is: simply remember the inhalation and exhalation of breath, and focus the mind without straying elsewhere. The second, without breath, is: do not focus on external forms and sounds, or on the internal movement of breath; do not create any thoughts of the past, future, or present, do not think or consider, but relax and settle in the middle. When settling in this way, if the mind is agitated, lower the gaze and focus below the navel, suppressing the lower air; if the mind is dull, exhale stale air, raise the gaze, walk around, and dispel fatigue. The second, without an object, has two parts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tightening and Loosening: First, tightening means focusing attention directly, generating intense mindfulness, and tightening without distraction for even a moment. Release after a short period. Then, tighten completely and practice settling slowly in a state of non-distraction. Second, loosening means abandoning the desire to meditate or not meditate, to stay or not stay in meditation, and relaxing the mind. In a state of natural relaxation, maintain mindfulness with broad awareness. Second, guiding from the perspective of Vipassanā (insight meditation), there are two parts: Determining the nature of various appearances and severing the root of clinging to them. First, this is further divided into determining the nature of the root—the mind—and determining the nature of awareness and appearances. The first is: On the basis of Śamatha (calm abiding), settle clearly, and then look nakedly at the mind itself. What is its shape, color, etc.? Where is its location and foundation? What are its characteristics and changes? Examine and analyze in sequence. If it appears as a shape, is it round, square, etc., or the shape of the container and its contents? If it appears as a color, is it white, black, etc.? Examine each one individually. Similarly, does this mind reside in external earth, stones, mountains, trees, etc., or does it reside within the body of karmic results? Does it reside in the segments of the body from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet, or does it reside universally? If it resides universally, does it reside in an internal, external, or mixed manner? If it is mixed, how do you separately examine when the mind projects onto objects? Similarly, is the nature of the mind empty, clear, or identifiable? If it is empty, is it like the sky, where nothing exists, or is it like the sun, moon, or lamp, possessing clear awareness? Examine carefully. The second is: From the state of the mind's clear emptiness, Allow gross thoughts of the three poisons to arise, and examine and analyze their shape, color, location, foundation, characteristics, and changes, etc. Similarly, examine and analyze subtle thoughts that arise or manifest in the same way as before. Furthermore, examine and analyze all subtle and gross phenomena of the container and its contents, the happiness and suffering of enemies and friends, etc. In this way, if you recognize that the uninterrupted appearances, devoid of clinging to inherent existence, are inexpressible and without brilliance, then you have generated an experience of your own nature. Second, severing the root of clinging to it is divided into four parts: determining that the arising of thoughts is the mind; determining that appearances are the mind; severing the root of transformation; and reverting everything that arises to the unborn. The first is: In the state of Samāhita (equanimity), --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
