Discard what is called 'Ha' (Tibetan: ཧ་, literal meaning: ha), without relying on the fence of soapberry trees. Place a square fence of one cubit, smeared with cow dung and mud, arrange nine bouquets of flowers on it, and then place 'Ha' (Tibetan: ཧ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) on it. If the top is facing up, it will accomplish the supreme; if facing the four directions, it will accomplish the four activities of pacifying, increasing, subjugating, and destroying, which is medium; if facing the four corners, it will accomplish subtle achievements such as auspicious vases. ' This is the prophecy. Next is dream divination, which is divided into two parts: preliminary and main practice. The preliminary practice is further divided into three aspects. First, to clarify the dream, perform rinsing: take scented water and rinse your mouth three times, drink it, and pour the remainder behind you. Recite the mantra: Om Hrih Vishuddha Sarva Papam Nishca A Sya Shodhaya Svaha (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཧྲཱིཿབི་ཤུདྡྷ་སརྦ་པཱ་པཾ་ནིཤྩ་ཨ་སྱ་ཤོ་དྷ་ཡ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ༔, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ ह्रीः विशुद्ध सर्व पापं निस्च अ स्य शोधय स्वाहा, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ hrīḥ viśuddha sarva pāpaṃ niśca a sya śodhaya svāhā, Chinese literal meaning: Om, Hrih, completely pure, all sins, indeed, this, purify, Svaha), rinse your mouth three times with this mantra. Second, to prevent the dream from being obscured by obstacles, tie a protective cord: take a red cord equal to the student's height, twist it into three strands, and tie three knots. Visualize from the invisible, a red vajra cord arising from the Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) syllable, with three vajra knots, invite the wisdom cord to merge into it, making it capable of protecting the three doors of body, speech, and mind of the vajra disciples from obstacles. Recite the Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) syllable and the activity mantra, tie it around the left arm of men and the right arm of women, wrapping it twice, then purify it with water from the vase, and seal it with a crossed vajra. Third, to prevent the dream from being confused, give a cushion and pillow of kusha grass: visualize from the invisible, green kusha grass arising from the Dhih (Tibetan: དྷཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: धीः, Sanskrit Romanization: dhīḥ, Chinese literal meaning: Dhih) syllable and the Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) syllable, with intact roots and tips, capable of preventing the dream from being confused. Place the smaller kusha grass recited with the Dhih (Tibetan: དྷཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: धीः, Sanskrit Romanization: dhīḥ, Chinese literal meaning: Dhih) syllable as a pillow on the right side, and the larger one recited with the Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) syllable as a cushion on the left side. Then, to prevent regression, explain the profound Dharma to generate joy: as stated in the Ornament of Clear Realization: 'In the world, all-knowing ones are as rare as the udumbara flower. They appear occasionally in hundreds of paths, or may not appear at all. The appearance of tantric practitioners is even rarer than this. Who can tirelessly relieve the suffering of unparalleled beings?' 'Whatever sins have been committed in countless eons, when one sees this mandala, all those sins will be exhausted.' Endless praise for the merits of tantric practitioners, if one can abide in this path, there is no need to say more about its excellence. If one can recite the protective mantra, one will surely attain the supreme fruit.' And so on, the sutras say that the appearance of the udumbara flower in the world is indeed rare. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like a flower, it is rare for a Buddha to appear in the world. Even if one appears, teaching the Dharma is especially profound, particularly the Mahayana. And within the Mahayana, teaching the Vajrayana is even rarer. Not only is it rare, but if this rarity is found, it is endowed with great benefits. The reason is that the accumulated sins of countless eons can be purified merely by seeing the mandala. What need is there to mention liberation from samsara if one enters it, receives empowerment, and practices with the yoga of realization and meditation? Therefore, you should rely on this blissful and swift path to quickly attain unsurpassed enlightenment without a doubt, because it is the most excellent of attainments, so cultivate joy. Next is the main practice, examining dreams, and if the dreams are bad, performing the ritual of averting them: 'Children, on a cushion of kusha grass, lie down with a silent and virtuous mind, whatever signs you see in the dream, tell me in the morning.' Having said this, tonight, facing the lama or the mandala, lie down on a cushion of kusha grass in the lion posture and with a virtuous mind. Thus, at dawn, the good or bad signs of the dream will be seen, so tell me in the morning. Thus, the preparatory rituals are completed. The main empowerment ritual will be held tomorrow,' having informed them, dedicate the merit and send the students to their respective places. The master continues the remainder of the previous preparatory ritual, making supplications: 'Om, Lord of compassion, gathering of all Sugatas, remember your past vows, for the sake of myself and the students, Blessed One, I make offerings to you, please be pleased and regard us with love, and come here tomorrow.' Please be pleased with the excellent offerings, and return to your natural abode.' Thus reciting, and performing the subsequent rituals. If a good sign is seen in the dream, praise it in the morning with a non-attached mind. If nothing is seen, it is mediocre. If a bad sign is seen, perform pacifying or wrathful fire pujas and other methods of averting it. If one cannot do that much, then understand it as illusory, and avert it by sealing it with the emptiness of reality. Next is the connection to the actual empowerment: Have the students bathe outside with water from the vase, then offer prostrations and water, and sit in rows facing the east of the mandala. Dismiss the obstacles, visualize the protective circle. The Karma Vajra performs the scattering and gathering of flowers. The master says: 'For the benefit of all sentient beings, the unsurpassed (bodhicitta)... even the essence of all tantras, agamas, and upadeshas, the gathering of all Sugatas...' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
