For masters who have only attained stable samadhi, etc., according to the different capacities of the disciples to be tamed, there are four ways to guide with mandalas: for those of lower capacity, a sand mandala; for those of medium capacity, a painted mandala; for those of higher capacity, a constructed mandala; and for those of the highest capacity, reliance on the guru's body mandala. Currently, venerable gurus mostly use either sand or painted mandalas for empowerment. In the case of a sand mandala, one must first prepare the ground ritual. According to the ritual, the ground ritual is performed on the first night, and preparations are made on the second. In the case of a painted mandala, the preparation ritual is performed on the first night. Since the preparations for the deity and vase have already been completed, it is now time to prepare the disciples. Therefore, please offer a mandala to the guru, who is inseparable from the main deity of the mandala, as an offering to request teachings. The disciples offer the mandala that had previously been scattered with flowers and then collected. After offering the mandala in this way, one must strengthen one's resolve: 'In order to attain the supreme accomplishment, the non-learning union possessing the nature of the four bodies and five wisdoms, I will enter this great mandala. Other than that, neither the prosperity and wealth of this life and the next, nor the peace and happiness of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers' enlightenment are the fruits to be pursued. Therefore, all sentient beings are primordially and naturally pure, so samsara does not exist, and all appearances are like illusions. However, because they have not realized this, sentient beings wander in samsara. These beings have been our parents, children, spouses, etc. countless times, and have shown us immeasurable kindness. All of them are oppressed by the great burden of suffering, yet they do not know the means to happiness. They desire happiness, but they strive only to create the causes of suffering, so their desires and actions are completely reversed, like madmen.' 'Therefore, aroused by immeasurable, unfeigned compassion, with wisdom and great compassion, I will not abide in the extremes of samsara and nirvana, and I will attain the state of perfect Buddhahood. For this purpose, I will properly receive the root of the Vajrayana path—empowerment—and train in the path accordingly.' One should generate such a pure and uncontrived bodhicitta. Then, make the supplication: With unwavering faith and intense devotion, join your palms together, holding flowers, and repeat after me: 'Ho! Teacher, skillful and compassionate lord, dispeller of the darkness of samsara, refuge of beings, with love, please consider me.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the endless ocean of Samsara, To the protector of beings without refuge who are drowning, Please consider with love, in this mandala, Especially, please remain. (Recite three times) Thus, the one path of all Buddhas, the wondrous Vajrayana, the path of swift bliss, if one generates the mind to seek its meaning, it is indeed excellent. Through this door of joy, grant this blessing, may it be widely heard. O fortunate son of noble lineage, You are an awakened fortunate one. The Buddhas who have gone in the three times also, Through this supreme secret path, Attained the state of manifest enlightenment. Even the great army with the hordes of demons, All are subdued by this. Therefore, you are a glorious fortune, You shall be taken into this mandala. All the correct disciplines, You should respectfully uphold. Thus it is said. Then, the common vows, taking refuge and generating bodhicitta. And the special vows, the connection of taking the vows, will be explained below when entering the mandala, so take them here. Then, the generation of the deity: From the heart of the master, rays of light radiate, touching your body, dissolving into a mass of light, transforming into the form of Garwang (Tibetan: གར་དབང་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: Independent) Great Compassionate One. The master touches your crown, throat, and heart with vajra and scented water, making a mark, and reciting 'Om Ah Hum' (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: om ah hum, Literal meaning: Om Ah Hum), the three syllables arise in the three places. Again, touching the heart, throat, and forehead from below, reciting 'Hum Ah Om' (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ་ཨཱཿཨོཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: hum ah om, Literal meaning: Hum Ah Om), visualize that it becomes clear as the vajra nature of the body, speech, and mind of all Buddhas. Again, touching downwards from the forehead, reciting 'Om Ah Hum' (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: om ah hum, Literal meaning: Om Ah Hum), make the aspiration to stabilize the three doors as the three vajras. Thus, generating the deity and blessing the three doors as the three vajras, it is good as an object of offering, make the aspiration to offer flowers on the crown. Om Vajra Puspe Praticcha Svaha (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་པུཥྤེ་པྲ་ཏཱིཙྪ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: om vajra puspe praticcha svaha, Literal meaning: Om, Vajra, Flower, Accept, Svaha). Likewise, incense to the nose (Tibetan: ཤངས, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: Nose)... Om Dhupe (Tibetan: ༴དྷཱུ་པེ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: dhupe, Literal meaning: Incense)... Light to the eyes (Tibetan: སྤྱན, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: Eyes)... Om Aloke (Tibetan: ཨཱ་ལོ་ཀེ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: aloke, Literal meaning: Light)... Scented water to the heart (Tibetan: ཐུགས་ཀར, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Literal meaning: Heart)... Om Gandhe (Tibetan: གྷནྡྷེ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: gandhe, Literal meaning: Scent)... Thus, bestow the four offerings. Then, to examine the signs of accomplishment, there are two: First, throwing the twig to examine: The twig arising from the syllable 'Hum' (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: hum, Literal meaning: Hum), is the nature of the Bodhi tree, twelve fingers in length, smeared with scented water, with a garland of flowers tied at the tip, possessing the power to examine the signs of accomplishment. Place this in the palms of your hands, rub the teeth with the tip, facing east, abandon curses, Vajra laughter (Tibetan: བཛྲ་ཧཱ་ས་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: vajra hāsa, Literal meaning: Vajra laughter). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
