I prostrate to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the ten directions, who are infinite and possess the wisdom that pervades all knowable things, and to the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas as vast as the ocean! First, dispelling the turbidity of the mind and doubt, I prostrate with my head to the King of the Shakyas, the Sage. I pay homage with joy and reverence to the Victorious One, Amitabha (Buddha of Immeasurable Light), who resides in Sukhavati (the Pure Land of Bliss), and to the Lama (Guru). To the Buddhas who now appear in all pure realms, loving beings, and to all the Victorious Ones of the past and future, I offer with a joyful mind. Reciting the Dharani of the Cloud of Offerings and presenting music, with palms joined: I take refuge in the Buddhas, the Dharma, the Sangha, and all the noble beings residing in the three times, whose qualities are immeasurable as the ocean. I confess all non-virtues, rejoice in the virtues of beings, request the turning of the Wheel of Dharma, and urge the attainment of complete enlightenment. Looking upon me with omniscient eyes, may whatever small virtue I possess completely pacify all suffering and lead to ultimate peace. May I always be blessed with happiness in lifetimes until enlightenment, in the Samadhi (meditative absorption) that knows emptiness, endowed with all supreme aspects. May I always remain in a state of non-conceptual spontaneity, and like the moon, sun, jewel, and music, may I engage in benefiting sentient beings. Just as the wise Victorious Ones dedicate the means of the Prajnaparamita (Perfection of Wisdom), so do I dedicate all my white (virtuous) deeds to enlightenment. With the Three Jewels as the object, whatever virtue arises from my body, speech, and mind, and from generosity, ethics, patience, diligence, Meditation, and wisdom, may I be endowed with pure conduct through all of these, and may I have the power to rejoice in ordination in the teachings of the protector of the world. Having become skilled in the meaning and words of the scriptures of all the Buddhas, may I uphold the sacred Dharma, without attachment to body and life. When I come to the time of death, may I see the Buddha Amitayus (Buddha of Immeasurable Life) with an undeluded mind, and from here go to Sukhavati (the Pure Land of Bliss). When the realm of Mara (demon) becomes manifest, may the great sage Amitayus (Buddha of Immeasurable Life) always act as a teacher. Having attained the ten Bhumis (grounds of a Bodhisattva), may I attain supreme enlightenment through the order of their virtuous aspects. Having attained the state of Samantabhadra (All-Good) Buddha, may I eradicate from the root all habitual tendencies and accumulated negativities, and be endowed with unobstructed wisdom and compassion. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May I benefit all sentient beings with these roots of virtue, and may they attain happiness. May I dedicate these roots of virtue to all sentient beings in the six realms of samsara, so that they may all perfect the perfection of generosity (Sanskrit: Dāna-pāramitā, Perfection of Giving). Similarly, I also dedicate the roots of virtue to the perfection of discipline (Sanskrit: Śīla-pāramitā, Perfection of Morality), the perfection of patience (Sanskrit: Kṣānti-pāramitā, Perfection of Patience), the perfection of diligence (Sanskrit: Vīrya-pāramitā, Perfection of Effort), the perfection of meditation (Sanskrit: Dhyāna-pāramitā, Perfection of Meditation), the perfection of wisdom (Sanskrit: Prajñā-pāramitā, Perfection of Wisdom), the perfection of skillful means (Sanskrit: Upāya-pāramitā, Perfection of Skillful Means), the perfection of vows (Sanskrit: Praṇidhāna-pāramitā, Perfection of Vows), the perfection of strength (Sanskrit: Bala-pāramitā, Perfection of Strength), and the perfection of knowledge (Sanskrit: Jñāna-pāramitā, Perfection of Knowledge). Similarly, I also dedicate the roots of virtue to the Joyful Ground (Sanskrit: Pramuditābhūmi), the Stainless Ground (Sanskrit: Vimalābhūmi), the Luminous Ground (Sanskrit: Prabhākarībhūmi), the Radiant Ground (Sanskrit: Arciṣmatībhūmi), the Very Difficult to Conquer Ground (Sanskrit: Sudurjayābhūmi), the Manifest Ground (Sanskrit: Abhimukhībhūmi), the Far-Reaching Ground (Sanskrit: Dūraṅgamābhūmi), the Immovable Ground (Sanskrit: Acalābhūmi), the Ground of Good Intelligence (Sanskrit: Sādhumatībhūmi), and the Tenth Ground, the Cloud of Dharma (Sanskrit: Dharmameghābhūmi). Similarly, I also dedicate the roots of virtue to the Vajra-like Samādhi (Sanskrit: Vajropamasamādhi), and to the diligent practice of the means of steadfast abiding, the samādhi of fully accumulating manifest approach, the samādhi of definite emergence, the samādhi of universal illumination, the samādhi of universal appearance, the samādhi of the jewel crest, the samādhi of the jewel moon, the samādhi of the crest of the victory banner, the samādhi of accumulating compassion, and the samādhi of skill in knowing the exposition of the words of all dharmas. Similarly, I also dedicate the roots of virtue to the dhāraṇī that accomplishes the inexhaustible ocean seal (Sanskrit: Sāgaramudrā-akṣaya-sādhanadhāraṇī), and to the dhāraṇī that enters into the conduct of sentient beings, the dhāraṇī of the infinite light of the sun's crest, the dhāraṇī of the immaculate glory of the moon's eminence, the dhāraṇī that completely dispels all entanglements, the dhāraṇī that scatters infinite afflictions by revealing the vajra essence, the dhāraṇī that truly assembles in the ultimate meaning that cannot be expressed, the dhāraṇī that enters into the sound of eloquent speech, the dhāraṇī that accomplishes impeccability like the sphere of the sky, the dhāraṇī sealed with the inexhaustible seal, and the dhāraṇī that accomplishes the complete attainment of the infinite body of the Buddha. I dedicate all the roots of virtue from the ten perfections to the ten doors of dhāraṇī mentioned above, so that together with them, after dying from here, I may be born in the happy realm of Sukhāvatī (Sanskrit: Sukhāvatī), where I may please the Blessed One Amitābha Tathāgata (Sanskrit: Amitābha-tathāgata), the Blessed One Avalokiteśvara (Sanskrit: Avalokiteśvara), the Blessed One Mahāsthāmaprāpta (Sanskrit: Mahāsthāmaprāpta), and those Bodhisattvas and their retinues. May I never displease the Blessed One and his retinue. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
