The 'Lord of the Mandala', holding a vajra with pride, 'Child, you are extremely fortunate', 'The Lord of all Sugatas is the Lama', 'To enter the great mandala', 'And to be empowered', 'This comes from accumulating great merit', 'Especially, do not look at the deities and mandalas as other', 'Properly offering the body, speech, and mind vajra of the Lama', 'Is praised by all the Sugatas', 'Therefore, regard yourself as the Lord of the Mandala', 'Having seen it, act according to the teachings', 'Child, your wish will be fulfilled', 'Generate joy and delight', thus he instructed. Seventh, in order to receive the vows of refuge, which are the foundation of the path of all Buddhist vehicles, make the following aspiration: Visualize the Three Jewels, Three Roots, and the assembly of oath-bound protectors, pervading the sky, complete within the great mandala of the Lama, like a wish-fulfilling jewel. Furthermore, regard the three secrets of the Vajra Master as inseparable from oneself, taking them as the supreme refuge. From the depths of your heart, aspire that until enlightenment is attained, you and all beings take refuge. Recite: 'Namo'. Then, according to the ritual, recite 'Lama, Sugata' etc., three times. In order to generate the supreme Bodhicitta, the foundation of the Mahayana path, make the following aspiration: For the sake of all sentient beings, mothers and fathers pervading the sky, enter the mandala of the Lama, which gathers all lineages, study the two stages of the path, and with the four activities that tame beings, completely uproot samsara, striving to benefit beings. Recite: 'Generate Bodhicitta, benefit' etc., three times. In front of the refuge field, the Lama's mandala, in order to completely purify the continuum and easily perfect the two accumulations, follow the words of the ten-part offering, remembering their meaning. Begin reciting: 'Lama, Yidam, Dakini' etc. Eighth, entering the Buddhist vehicle requires the continuum to possess vows, therefore, in front of the all-pervading Lord Lama's mandala, take the Pratimoksha vows, the Bodhisattva precepts, and all the Samayas of the Vidyadhara mantra in sequence, in the manner of transforming the essence. Protect them all at once in the manner of increasing qualities, and practice and study them in accordance with the different needs of the times. Recite: 'Ogyen lineage holder, son of the Victorious Ones, Vajra Master, please consider, I' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From this day forward, until enlightenment, I shall uphold the vows of individual liberation, the Bodhisattva vows, and the samayas within the Vidyadhara. Having taken them in their entirety, I shall not forsake them even for the sake of my life. I beseech you to bestow your blessings upon me. (Recite three times) Ninth, from the Lord of Great Bliss (Mahasukha) without interruption, may this nectar of samaya water pass through the vajra tongue and reside in the heart center as the Wisdom Being. If you uphold the samaya, you will receive blessings; if you do not, you will be wrathful as a Vajra Yaksha, and the punishment of the command will descend. Be sure to understand this! Bestow the samaya water. Hūṃ! The root of mantra is samaya; if upheld, the two siddhis will be attained; if not, one will go to hell in this life. Uphold the samaya, drink the vajra water! Thus, the instruction. From this day forward, with the intention to uphold the samaya properly, repeat after this taste of vajra: Vajra samaya idam narakaṇa. (Recite) Tenth, then establish the basis of empowerment and invoke the Wisdom Being. You all, straighten your bodies. Bind your speech, breath, and effort together. Do not let your minds wander for even a moment to the objects of the six consciousnesses. Restrain the key points of the three doors and focus as follows: From the heart of the master, rays of light radiate. All impure appearances, represented by your aggregates and elements, are unattainable and purified into emptiness. From within emptiness, in the center of the Sukhavati realm, adorned with the complete splendor of the lotus, and upon the seats of the sun and moon discs, you all instantly transform into the master of the mandala, the Great Guru of Great Bliss, Padmasambhava, with a complexion of white tinged with red, blazing with the splendor of the marks and signs, radiating the five lights of wisdom. One face, peaceful and smiling; two hands in meditative equipoise, holding a kapala filled with nectar, with waves of the white syllable Oṃ swirling. On his head, a majestic Shau hat, and on his body, secret garments, a skirt, a Dharma robe, and a large brocade cloak. Feet in the vajra posture, residing in a realm of rainbow light and bindus. His body pervades all realms, and the infinite mandalas are complete within his body, manifesting as the great sovereign of all lineages, marked at the three places with the vajra nature of body, speech, and mind: white Oṃ, red Āḥ, and blue Hūṃ. The master also visualizes himself as the Lord of the Mandala, Guru Great Bliss, generating intense devotion. From the heart of the lama, rays of light emanate, attracting the vajra wisdom, like an iron hook drawing in the wisdom of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, merging into oneself. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
