In the center of swirling rainbows and beams of light, (the Guru) resides in the radiant expanse. From his brow, a white ray of light shoots forth like a falling star. As it dissolves into the crown of the devoted disciple, generate the conviction that his body, appearance, and emptiness are inseparable from the body of Padmasambhava (Lotus-Born), this is the root. As a symbol, this outer vase also possesses all the perfect qualities. Inwardly, it is the embodiment of the Three Roots (Guru, Yidam, Dakini), completing the mandala of Guru Rinpoche and all the Victorious Ones, transforming into the nature of wisdom nectar. Therefore, aspire to cleanse your defilements and receive empowerment. Then, conveying the meaning through gestures, raise the vase, and recite: Hūṃ hrīḥ! The vase is emptiness and clarity, the ungraspable state of Dharmakaya (Truth Body); Unobstructed Samantabhadra (All Good) manifests as a radiant assembly; Self-luminous, the gathering of lineages, the radiant Skull Garland Power (Thod Treng Tsal); Within the expanse of rainbows, names and ornaments blaze. Devoted son of the lineage, you! May you receive the empowerment of the Lotus Light-Blazing Body! The root mantra is: Kāya abhiṣiñca oṃ! (Sanskrit: Kāya abhiṣiñca oṃ, English: Body, empower, oṃ!) Bestow the empowerment with the vase and offer the vase water. Thus, having received the vase empowerment, the obscurations of the body are purified, and the eighth bhumi (level) of immovability (Acala) is conquered. You will be qualified to attain the fruit of the Nirmanakaya (Emanation Body). On the path, you will have the ability to visualize the body as the Yidam (Deity) body, like the moon in water, like a rainbow. Second, for the sake of the secret empowerment. As before, visualize the Buddhas of the three times, etc. From (the Guru's) throat, a red Āḥ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: आः, Sanskrit Romanization: āḥ, English: Ah!) syllable of light emanates, like the tip of a flame. As it dissolves into the throat of the devoted disciple, generate the conviction that his speech, sound, and emptiness are inseparable from the speech of Guru Padmasambhava, this is the root. As a symbol, this nectar in the skull cup is also the manifestation of Guru Padmasambhava's Khatvanga (Staff) and consort Yeshe Tsogyal (Wisdom Dakini) united, from the sound and light of the bliss of union, invite all the Victorious Ones and their retinues. They enter your mouth, passing through the chakras (energy centers) of the body. Subsequently, the nectar transformed from the melting red and white Bodhicitta (Enlightenment Mind), descends from the secret space, merging with the nectar in the skull cup, blessed by oṃ āḥ hūṃ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओम् आः हूँ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ āḥ hūṃ, English: oṃ āḥ hūṃ!), taste it on your tongue. Aspire to receive the empowerment! Having done so, raise the skull cup nectar, and recite: Hūṃ hrīḥ! Self-knowing, self-luminous, in the unborn skull cup (Kapala); Self-knowing, unobstructed, the essence of nectar gathers; Cutting the six causes, the Amrita (Nectar of Immortality, Tibetan: ཨ་མྲྀ་ཏ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अमृत, Sanskrit Romanization: amṛta, English: Immortal) of emptiness combined. Devoted son of the lineage, you! On your speech, through the empowerment of sound and nectar, may you receive the empowerment of the Lotus Light-Blazing Speech! The end of the root mantra is: Vāka abhiṣiñca ā! (Sanskrit: Vāka abhiṣiñca ā, English: Speech, empower, ā!) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tasting the nectar-bestowing ground, thus obtaining the secret empowerment, the obscurations of speech are purified, attaining the ninth ground, the ground of good intelligence, becoming fortunate to obtain the Sambhogakaya fruit. On the path, one has the authority to practice the deity's heart mantra, the recitation of emptiness-vajra. Third, the empowerment of wisdom-jnana. From the hearts of the Buddhas of the three times, rays of blue Hum (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:seed syllable) light emanate, like the smoke of incense. They dissolve into the heart of the faithful disciple, with the faith that one's own mind is inseparable from the mind of Padmasambhava, the clear and empty lotus-born one, as the root. Knowing that this Khatvanga, the symbol, is also a wisdom dakini, generating the four great desires, practicing the four joys of stability above and stability below, have the faith of receiving the empowerment. Having thus communicated, holding the Khatvanga, recite: 'Hum Hrih (藏文:ཧཱུྃ་ཧྲཱིཿ), not realizing the nature of reality, the three poisons of wrong thoughts, self-awareness, self-realization, the three kayas spontaneously accomplished, now grant to you, faithful son of the lineage, the empowerment of the heart of Padma Odbar.' At the end of the root mantra, add: 'Citta abhishintsa Hum (梵文罗马拟音:Citta abhiṣiñca hūṃ)'. Place the Khatvanga under the left armpit. Thus obtaining the empowerment of wisdom-jnana, the obscurations of mind are purified, attaining the tenth ground, the cloud of dharma, becoming fortunate to obtain the Dharmakaya fruit. On the path, one has the authority to meditate on the meaning of Kadak Trekcho of Dzogchen. Fourth, the empowerment of great wisdom. From the five places where the Buddhas of the three times dwell, rays of light emanate like a rainbow in water. Dissolving into those places of yourself, have the faith of obtaining the complete empowerment of body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities as the root. Through the symbol of this crystal, recognizing the meaning of the symbol, understanding the union of skillful means and wisdom, non-duality, primordial wisdom, beyond words, recognizing it as the Dharmakaya. Generate the thought that you have obtained the complete accomplishment of the four empowerments. Having thus communicated, giving the crystal and the bandha, recite: 'Hum Hrih (藏文:ཧཱུྃ་ཧྲཱིཿ), self-awareness, empty and clear, free from arising and ceasing, free from the extremes of elaboration, primordially liberated, the meaning of the innate nature of mind, self-awareness, clear and empty, free from all acceptance and rejection, now grant to you, faithful son of the lineage, the empowerment of indivisible, pure, great bliss.' At the end of the root mantra, add: 'Sarva dharma abhishintsa hoh (梵文罗马拟音:Sarva dharma abhiṣiñca hoḥ)'. Thus bestowing the fourth empowerment, the obscurations of the three doors are purified, becoming fortunate to obtain the eleventh ground, the ground of all-illuminating light, and the fruit of obtaining the Svabhavikakaya. On the path, one has the authority to practice the visions of Atiyoga Yangsang Dorje Nyingpo Todgal Lhundrub. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
