At that time, the land of Tibet was destroyed by the endless armies of the borderlands, and unprecedented fortresses were built on every mountain peak. At that time, the holy being named Sangye Nuden Dorje (Sangs-rgyas Nus-ldan Rdo-rje, Powerful Buddha Vajra), from the east, under the name Dudul Dorje (Bdud-'dul Rdo-rje, Subduer of Demons), performed various deeds for the well-being of the Tibetan people. As praised in numerous prophecies from both old and new treasures, they sang with one voice and, with enlightened intent, manifested conduct inseparable from the great Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ, hūṃ, seed syllable, destroyer) emanation of Kāra, which appeared to the ordinary perception of those to be tamed. He is the reincarnation of Drokben Cheuchung Lotsā ('Brog Ban Khye'u Chung Lo tsā, Translator Boy), the treasury of the Thirteen Golden Dharmas (Snyan-brgyud bcu-gsum), the key to a hundred sacred site treasures, the holder of the lineage of a thousand liberation teachings, the great treasure revealer Dudul Lingpa (Bdud-'dul Gling-pa), also known as Katong Dudul Nuden Dorje (Khrag 'thung Bdud 'dul Nus ldan Rdo rje), who invoked the essence of the nine vehicles—the wall-less ear-whispered lineage of the Great Perfection Heart Essence teachings (Dam chos sprul sku snying thig) and the empowerment of the most secret Blazing Light of Padma (Yang gsang padma 'od 'bar) from the neck of Dokham Tsawa Drok Drak Benri Padma O (Mdo Khams Tsha ba Sgro brag Ban ri Padma 'od). To accomplish the practice, the actions of the master must precede. To receive the blessings and profound empowerment, please offer a maṇḍala. Having said this, begin the offering of the maṇḍala. Then, for the supplication, visualize as follows: This place where we are is not an ordinary place, but a pure realm—the great palace of the Lotus Light Land (Padma 'od). The master is the embodiment of all Buddhas, the glorious Mahaguru Padmasambhava himself. With unwavering faith and intense longing, supplicate, repeating the following: Emaho! Guru Padmasambhava of the Lotus Light, is the supreme lord of all lineages. Please Kunzang Lama (Kun bzang bla ma, Samantabhadra Guru) take care of us, grant empowerment, maturation, liberation, and accomplishment! (Recite three times) Ema! Fortunate child, who are you? What do you seek? In this utterly secret, unsurpassed maṇḍala, only a few fortunate ones may enter. Can you protect the vows of the Three Roots? (After reciting, repeat the following response to the supplication:) I am the only son of my lineage, possessing karmic connections from previous lives. I can protect the vows of the Three Roots. Please, with compassion, consider me and grant empowerment. Even if my body and life are at stake, I will never transgress these vows. Please, with compassion and love, consider me and grant empowerment! Having supplicated in this way, the master rejoices, opens the door of great compassion and wisdom, bestows teachings, and establishes one in the vows. Thus, one can enter the maṇḍala of Heruka (Heruka, Wrathful Deity), and be matured.
