Therefore, if a Hinayana practitioner who is detached from desire has not trained his mind-stream, let alone conduct, he does not even have the qualification to receive empowerment and practice the generation stage. For an ordinary being who is not detached from desire, if detachment has not deteriorated, it is difficult to generate faith in mantra. If faith arises, and one abandons the manifested desire of desire through the worldly path, then it is easy to arise again. These are generally the pitfalls of mantra, but if one enters the path of mantra, one should do it that way. The so-called "Buddhahood at the time of death and bardo" is the name for obtaining the noble path at that time. At the time of death, one obtains the path of seeing, and the union of the two truths is achieved at the cost of the bardo. That is called becoming a Buddha at the time of death. At the time of death, one obtains great heat and so on, and at the cost of the bardo, one accomplishes the body of wind and mind alone. By meditating on the path based on that support, if one's faculties are sharp, one does not need to take rebirth, and one can obtain the noble path in the bardo itself. Also, those who obtain that body at the time of death, after the dying mind has endured for a moment, will definitely obtain the union of the two truths in the bardo. Those are called becoming enlightened in the bardo. For these people, at that time, conduct and proximate cause are not necessary. From then on, those who gradually progress through the stages and become enlightened definitely need conduct and proximate cause, because those are inconceivable practitioners, and there is no difference from those who achieve the union of the two truths in this life. Therefore, there is nothing to rejoice in the manifestation of the five enlightenments. In general, even for great noble ones whose afflictions are extremely extinguished, because the habitual tendencies of the four states mentioned above have not been exhausted, they need conduct and proximate cause, which is both necessary and possible. Eighteenth Question. The eighteenth question is: "Because it is the body of dependent arising, it is suitable for the five wisdoms." Regarding this statement, Spokangpa said that the body colors and hand gestures of the five families of the Yoga Tantra are said to purify the five aggregates that are to be purified. In that case, can the generation stage also be established in the Yoga Tantra? Or, below the Yoga Tantra, it is not said that appearances are deities. How is it that one is concerned about contradicting what is said? That is the question. In response to this, it is said that below the Yoga Tantra

Therefore, in accordance with the order of birth and death, meditating on the antidote of the deity yoga, from the perspective of purification, there is definitely no such thing as what is to be purified, what can purify, and how to combine them. Because there are none of these, even if there is only a way of meditating that corresponds to the result of purification, it will not truly become the generation stage. Therefore, if the purification of the five aggregates, which is similar to the pure recollection of unsurpassed yoga, is merely used as a symbol, then if there is a basis, there will be no conflict. Because the five families are symbols of the five wisdoms, this is also considered here. Moreover, the four wisdoms and the eight consciousnesses are a transformation of the basis, which is repeatedly stated in this yoga. However, regarding the point that "appearance is a deity," just as many later people believe, thinking that after removing the faults and defilements on this current body, the lineage of this body will become Vairochana, this is unreasonable even in unsurpassed yoga. Moreover, it is not said here that all appearances should be visualized as deities, so this should also be taken into account. When the eight consciousnesses, etc., included in one's own continuum, are purified by practicing the path, the dharmata, etc., which have two kinds of purity, although it is said that they are the victors of the four lineages, in the case of defilement, the four lineages are inherently present from the beginning, but this is not clearly stated in this tantra. Therefore, the establishment of visualizing all appearances as the body of a deity is not established. Nineteenth question. The nineteenth question is: Also, in order to prove that the Hearers and Solitary Realizers have realized emptiness, the scripture is quoted as saying, "How by the difference of knots." In this way, it seems that Hearers and Solitary Realizers must realize selflessness of phenomena. Even if only this is allowed, if the scripture states it that way, according to the view of the Ornament for Clear Realization, Hearers and Solitary Realizers should also become those who have realized the selflessness of phenomena. This is the question. The answer to this is: The author of the Differentiation of the Three Vows greatly values the views of the Venerable Chandrakirti, so he may think that Hearers and Solitary Realizers have realized the selflessness of phenomena. However, this is not certain. Moreover, Hearers and Solitary Realizers also have the samadhi of the three doors of liberation, and there are many categories of emptiness teachings such as the Great Sutra Emptiness in the Lesser Vehicle as well. However, most of the direct teachings of these scriptures are: Things arise from the interdependence of various causes and conditions.
