In that state, the accumulation of discipline that is not exhausted can be applied to all times and places, so there should be no excessive regret. If one repeatedly commits transgressions in the Hearer Vehicle, the discipline will be completely exhausted. One must immediately abandon the afflictions of the three realms, and in order to quickly attain nirvana for one's own benefit, the precepts that are learned cannot be altered. Furthermore, if a Bodhisattva does not abandon the mind of enlightenment, even if cherished with the five qualities desired for immeasurable eons, the discipline is only pure, and even in dreams, one is not aware of being defiled by afflictions. This is called long-term following. The Hearers, in order to quickly attain the small fruit, must diligently engage in the small path, so the precepts that are learned must be strict and not mixed. Therefore, complete enlightenment must be accomplished with great effort, and it cannot be achieved merely by being weary of suffering and solely longing for detachment, as it is said. Then, the attendant Ananda asked about the severity of offenses. If only considering the Great Vehicle, even if offenses associated with desire occur for immeasurable times, a single offense associated with hatred is heavier than the former. Hatred is abandoning sentient beings, while desire is enslaving sentient beings. Likewise, although separation is slow, that is, difficult to separate, the one with minor faults is not a great affliction for the Bodhisattva. Although separation is quick, the one with major faults is the opposite of the former. After saying this, the Bodhisattva who is unskilled fears desire but does not fear hatred, while the skilled one is the opposite. Then, the noble Manjushri gathered in that assembly and asked, "In the Dharma of taming, what is taming?" The Buddha said, "All Dharmas are extremely tame, but for those who do not understand this, taming is repeatedly taught." The meaning is that although afflictions are empty in nature, the Dharma of taming is taught to those who do not understand this. Then, the attendant Ananda requested the Blessed One to urge Manjushri to teach the Dharma. Manjushri also said that the nature of the mind is inherently tame, and there is no self to be seen.

Abandoning and Adopting Without abandoning or adopting, abiding at the edge of the sky, and without focusing on the three times, etc., After explaining the meaning of emptiness, it is said that if one does not believe in this Dharma nature, then one is far from the training. 17-694 Thus it is said. Then, the attendant Ananda asked: "Does Manjushri always teach the Dharma starting from the inconceivable?" The Teacher replied: "If one does not rely on the inconceivable, there is no liberation. Manjushri also teaches the Dharma because he has abandoned all conceptual thoughts and abandoned excessive pride." Similarly, because one clings to desires, etc., as being true, one develops the mind of renunciation; and because one clings to pure Dharma as being true, one develops the desire to attain it; Whether it is profound or not profound, the three vehicles, or defilement and purification, one differentiates them with clinging to truth, and there is even nothing to think about. All of these are practicing excessive pride, and if one does not cling to the inconceivable itself, there is no excessive pride. Thus he spoke. Then, the Teacher spoke extensively in verses in the form of a special statement, namely, the state of inconceivability, and the manner of not clinging to it, applying this to all the Dharmas of the three bases, paths, and results, and teaching them profoundly and extensively with instructions. At this time, it is said: Wisdom Know the Dharmas, wisdom, insight, intelligence, steadfast mind, Self-nature, no self-nature, at any time, Cannot be known, this must also be shown. Thus, the distinction between the existence and non-existence of self-nature is shown, and I have shown the fear of the hell of the mind, Many sentient beings, even with weariness, Those who die and transmigrate to fierce evil realms, Those beings have never existed. Thus, the selflessness of the individual is mainly shown, and those who hold swords, bows, arrows, and weapons, The harm-doers do not exist, By the power of conceptual thought, in those evil realms, Seeing the body falling upon them, there are no weapons there. Thus, it is shown that external objects do not exist, but are only mind, and various pleasing flowers 17-695 Blooming, a golden palace burning, pleasing to the mind, Here and there, there is no maker, Those are established by the power of conceptual thought. Thus, it is said that there is no other maker, but only conceptual thought itself, so the appearance is also not separate from the mind.
