Even if the king of gods rains down, like bad seeds that do not grow, even if the Buddhas come, without merit, one cannot experience goodness. It is because one's own karmic obscurations obscure and one cannot see. I am always near you. All the power of reciting mantras before, now with great compassion, the difficulty of cutting off the flesh of one's own body purifies sins and obscurations, so one can see, he said. Now carry it on your shoulder and show it to the people of the city, he said. After showing it, no one else could see anything. A woman who sold alcohol saw him carrying a puppy, and later obtained inexhaustible wealth. A poor person who made a living by carrying things, just by seeing his feet, also attained samadhi and obtained common siddhis. At that time, the Acharya obtained the samadhi of the Dharma lineage. What do you want? he asked. He requested to propagate the Mahayana, and after requesting this, he said, Grab the edge of my robe. After grabbing it, he immediately arrived in Tushita. Regarding this, the ancient commentary of Sa-de says that it is said that he stayed in Tushita for six months. Some say he stayed for fifteen years, etc., there are various accounts. However, the common saying in both China and Tibet is that he stayed for fifty years. That is also counting half a year as a year, so it is twenty-five years, the Indians say. There, in Tushita, he heard all the Mahayana Dharma from Maitreya, and understood the meaning of all the Sutras. When he heard the Five Dharmas of Maitreya, just by hearing each point, he obtained different doors of samadhi. Returning to the human realm again, when he benefited beings, he obtained unobstructed clairvoyance that could know the minds of others. Even if it was a long distance that would take half a month or a month to travel, he and his entourage could travel in one hour or one day, and he maintained the youthfulness of the time when he first saw Maitreya. Even though he was over ninety years old, he remained the same as before, and his body had similarities to the thirty-two marks, etc. In general, he was a person who had attained the bhumis.
