So he went to listen to the proclamation of the offering, and the Blessed One spoke in the king's name: Elephants, vehicles, horses, and small troops, riding and ruling cities and villages. The Buddha said: "Ananda, this cannot be extinguished even by a scattering wind, let alone by others. It was lit by one who has a great aspiration. This girl will become a Buddha named Shakyamuni, just as she has prayed." He said, and that butter lamp continued to burn brightly for seven days, surpassing all other offerings. Her fame spread in all directions, and the king also placed a thousand jars of butter and four jewel lamps for the promenade. In addition, for three months, he offered other umbrellas that were the most excellent. He also gave each monk a robe worth a hundred thousand. He also erected countless butter lamps. Brahmins and faithful householders, thinking of the future merits of that poor girl, also gave her many possessions.
