Section. 15-89 ༈ The section on the practice method of Thubpa (Buddha) and the Sixteen Arhats. ༄༅། །Oṃ Svasti. Having prostrated to the teacher Gautama, the supreme deity, together with his retinue, I shall write the supreme method, the practice method, for propagating the Buddha's teachings. One may arrange a mandala that accords with the meaning of meditation, or a maṇḍala of fragrant incense with clusters. The offerings should be blessed in accordance with the general practice, or blessed with the dhāraṇī of the cloud of offerings. One should abide in the yoga of any chosen deity, or it is permissible to omit the self-generation in this tradition. From the state of emptiness, the basis of the front generation, may a pure realm, adorned with all ornaments, arise. In the center, a four-sided mansion with four doors, made of various jewels. Made of the essence of various jewels, and filled with various objects. In the center of that, a jeweled throne with a lotus and a moon cushion. Around the perimeter, sixteen lotus cushions. Inside the eastern gate and at the four gates, jeweled cushions, together with inconceivable clouds of offerings, similar to those arising from the liberation of Samantabhadra. Recite this three times. Burn incense and make music. At the end of "All sentient beings," etc.: "By whom was the Buddha's teaching placed in the hands of the protector of beings, Shakya Singha? I invite the great Arhat, the protector of the Dharma, who opens the precious casket of scriptures. I invite him for the sake of propagating the sacred Dharma. I request him to come for the sake of beings and for the sake of offerings. Having attained perfect enlightenment with abandonment and wisdom, holding the conduct of a Shravaka according to the capacity of those to be tamed, may the sixteen Arhats, who are especially the protectors of the Dharma, come here and sit on their seats." By reciting this, from their natural abode, may Thubpa (Buddha), the great Sixteen Arhats with their retinue, the lay follower Dharmapala who follows outwardly, and the assembly of the four great kings, each sit on their respective seats. In the center, the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the glorious Victorious Shakyamuni, with a golden body, making the earth-touching mudra with his right hand, and the mudra of equipoise with his left hand, in the vajra posture.
