I, wanting to obtain land from the king, entrusted my 12-348 wealth to a friend. I myself boarded a large ship and entered the ocean. For many years, I went to the islands of the ocean, but did not achieve any special wealth. Once, by chance, the ship was blown by the wind to an island called Malacca. On that island, there were corals and sandalwood and other precious items that could be obtained at will, so I obtained a large amount and filled the ship. On the way, the ship was struck by the iron on the nose of a crocodile-like creature called Makara-mani, and the ship broke. Then, grabbing a plank of wood, I was washed by the waves to Jambudvipa. Again, I searched for my friend, and learned that he had also died, having been eaten by a tiger on the way. There, nothing was accomplished, and I suffered from fatigue and was unhappy. A friend urged me to generate faith in Tara and pray, and in a dream it was said: Go to the bank of the Sindhu River! All your desires will be fulfilled. Having done so, from within the Sindhu River, I found all the wealth that had previously sunk into the ocean from the ship. Then I went to the place where my friend had died, and dug up a piece of land, retrieving the wealth that had been entrusted. Then I returned to my homeland, and presented many sandalwood trees as gifts to the king, who in turn gave me five of the best cities. In addition, later he also encouraged the teacher Nagarjuna to practice, twice saving Chandra-gomin from the fear of water, saving the omniscient spiritual friend from the fear of fire, saving the virtuous lay monk No-Self from the fear of poisonous snakes, and meeting with the teacher Lodro Tenpa (Blo gros brtan pa, Steadfast Intelligence), and so on. There are very many amazing stories. Furthermore, there was a Sthavira (Theravada monk) Sendha who lived at Vajrasana (Bodh Gaya). In the summer, he went to see magic tricks, and had to cross the Nairanjana River, which is commonly 12-349 known as Phalgu in the vernacular. He tried to cross the river newly swollen, but was unsuccessful and was carried away by the water. There, he thought that the Mahayanists say that there is a Tara who saves from the fear of water, so he called out to Tara. The Tara in the outer courtyard of Vajrasana

There was a wooden statue that actually appeared there and said, "You never remember me, how can it be that you call me now?" Then it came out of the water by itself. That statue is also known as the Water Goddess Tara. Another time, in Vajrasana (Bodh Gaya), an old woman built a Tara temple with the door facing outwards. After it was built, the old woman regretted thinking, "It is not good to turn one's back on the Great Bodhi Tree." Then, the statue itself spoke, "If you are not happy, let it face the Great Bodhi Tree." After saying that, both the door of the temple and the statue turned towards the Great Bodhi Tree, and thus it was known as the Face-Turning Tara. Also, during the time of King Dharmapala, northeast of Vajrasana (Bodh Gaya), near a water source where monks fetched water, there was a stone statue of Tara. At that time, the Sthavira Sendhapas of Simhala burned many tantric scriptures in the fire. They also destroyed a large Heruka statue made of silver because they found it. They also caused great damage to the Dharma wheel of Acharya Sangye Pal Yeshe, so the Sthaviras of Simhala were punished by the king. A Sendhapa bhikshu went to the Tara statue and prayed, "Please save me from the fear of the king's punishment." Tara said, "You do not remember me in your leisure time, do you remember me now?" Then she said, "Enter that water hole." He completely fit into that very small water hole, and the king's men searched for him but could not find him. Then, he fled at night and arrived far away in eastern India. During a festival, the door under the bird's eaves of the upper building of Vajrasana (Bodh Gaya) did not open. Again, that Simhala bhikshu was summoned to open it, and the door opened by itself. The king was also very pleased and bestowed many items. It is said that before Acharya Nagarjuna, about five thousand people attained siddhis by relying on the vidya-mantra of Tara. During Nagarjuna's time, about five thousand people also attained siddhis. In particular, the history related to this tantra is: In eastern Bengal, a bhikshu who was ordained from the Brahmin caste, a Tripitaka master, named Haya Pala.
