They should be divided into two supports. The power of all-encompassing antidotes is: Generally, all virtuous deeds become antidotes to sins, but in this case, for the sins committed, and 4-179 for their antidotes, the virtuous deeds that are specifically practiced are called all-encompassing antidotes. That is to say, whatever virtuous deeds are practiced with the aim of purifying sins, they will become antidotes. The so-called six methods of all-encompassing antidotes are some that are easy to accomplish and of great benefit, which are summarized because they are needed nearby. The first of these is relying on holding names. In the sutras, it is specifically said that for many Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, merely holding their names will purify karmic obscurations. Recite them yourself and proclaim them to others. When holding the names, do not hold them nakedly, but hold them with honorifics. For example: Homage to the Bhagavan Tathagata Amitabha! Homage to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Arya Avalokiteshvara! Like that. As it says in the Ornament of Sutras: "The Buddha's name is not proclaimed, the Buddha's name is truly proclaimed, they go to other realms." The benefits are great. In other Buddhist flourishing lands other than Tibet, this tradition is also very popular. The second is building Buddha images. In general, building images of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and holy beings is all right, but the main ones are those that are specifically mentioned as beneficial for purifying sins. Not only Buddha images, but also building stupas or scriptures. The third is relying on offerings. Offering to the Three Jewels, offering to the Sangha, offering mandalas, and for those who have entered the Secret Mantra, offering mandalas, offering wheels, and the most supreme of all offerings, pleasing the Guru. 4-180 The fourth is relying on profound sutras. Although the Buddha's teachings are equal and there is not much difference, the main thing is to read and recite the profound sutras and tantras that are specifically praised for purifying sins, and so on. The fifth is relying on recitation. Reciting the profound dharanis and mantras that are specifically praised, such as the Hundred Syllable Mantra of Vajrasattva, and so on.

Sixth, to have faith in emptiness is to meditate on the meaning of selflessness and the essence of the Tathagata. Even if you cannot meditate, you should repeatedly generate faith. In particular, you should cultivate the aspiration and faith that the very act of sin, the person who commits it, the consciousness that holds the seed of sin, and all the resulting suffering are like illusions without inherent existence. In this way, you confess through the completeness of the four powers. First, it is important to refute and have strong remorse. If you have strong faith in karma and its effects, remorse will naturally arise. However, since most people today lack this, they merely follow the words of others blindly. Therefore, strong remorse will not arise, so you must contemplate the reasons and generate remorse. That is, having committed sin, in this life you will be condemned by everyone, included among the wicked, the gods and guardians will be ashamed, the spirits will seek opportunities, many misfortunes will arise immediately, relatives, friends, servants, and all those connected to you will be overshadowed, and so on, which is very inauspicious. You yourself will be uneasy because you are not respected, and all your dreams will be unfavorable. All virtuous and wise people will be ashamed. At the time of death, various diseases and sufferings will arise, and many regrets will arise in your mind. Death itself is greater than the fear and the pain of being cut off. After death, the suffering of the three lower realms is immeasurable. At other times, even if you are reborn in the heavens due to other karma, various sufferings will arise due to the residue of karma. Having committed sin, bad habits will be revived, and in future lives you will become more afflicted and will enjoy sin, and therefore suffering will increase continuously. For someone like me to do what should not be done is truly foolish and ignorant! Am I possessed by a spirit? Or am I mad? Since there is no benefit in doing this, why do I enjoy it so much? Since there are so many faults, why can't I remember or know any of them? Is there no protecting deity? Is there no one who cares and offers advice? Alas, I have done such evil deeds! You should cultivate such strong aspirations.
