Regarding dream yoga, there are two methods: grasping the clear light of deep sleep and the key instructions for dreams. Regarding grasping the clear light of deep sleep, for beginners, the method for grasping the clear light is the same as what was taught during the waking state. For yogis who have already grasped the clear light of sleep through that method, there is no need for separate key instructions for grasping the clear light of sleep until the life force ceases to operate. Generally, this system has the oral instruction for grasping the clear light through the union of the throat chakra and the heart chakra, and the oral instruction for expanding the clear light through the union of the navel chakra and the heart chakra. Therefore, here, the key instruction for dreams is: in the center of your own throat chakra, visualize a red RA syllable (藏文:ར་,梵文天城体:र,梵文罗马拟音:ra,汉语字面意思:RA), and in the center of the crown chakra, visualize a white bindu. Then, hold the subtle breath slightly, so that the RA syllable (藏文:ར་,梵文天城体:र,梵文罗马拟音:ra,汉语字面意思:RA) will ignite inner heat, touching the bindu, from which a stream of nectar will descend, dissolving into the RA syllable (藏文:ར་,梵文天城体:र,梵文罗马拟音:ra,汉语字面意思:RA). Visualize this, and make a strong determination to definitely grasp the dream tonight. Through such practice, you will quickly grasp the dream. This is the forty-seventh contemplation guide. When you have grasped the dream and that state becomes stable, draw empty forms into the throat and mix them with the previous visualization. Then, make a strong determination to definitely practice Vajra Yoga in the dream tonight. Such a strong intention will cause you to have the thought of practicing Vajra Yoga in the dream, such as the thoughts during the waking state, etc. When you focus on the visualization, many empty forms will appear accompanied by blissful experiences. Some people will have dreams and empty forms appear mixed from the very beginning. For those with good foundations and sharp faculties, and for those who later become very familiar, they will appear regardless of whether the faculties are sharp or dull. Even in the clear light of sleep, in an unconscious state, as soon as you wake up, pure empty forms will appear instead of dreams. This is the forty-eighth contemplation guide. The second part is about the key instructions for dying, and the teaching that even if you die in the middle of practice, the power of the habituation of yoga will take effect. The first point is: from now on, when I myself die, earth dissolves into water, and many signs appear, such as smoke, and many physical experiences such as sinking, numbness, throbbing, and many verbal experiences such as trembling breath, roughness, and clarity and unclearness.

Anger, attachment, and other various mental experiences arise. Recognize their essence and let the mind enter into luminosity. Constantly think in this way and practice in the same way at the time of death. Practice whichever of the six branches is appropriate at the time. Whether bodily, verbal, mental, or visual experiences arise, think that the practice at the time of death is also like this. Whatever experience arises, recognize it as being free from arising, ceasing, and abiding, and rest in that state. Especially, it is important to train in the same way before falling asleep and in the luminosity of sleep. The forty-ninth point of practice. When death manifests, whatever visions appear, maintain a state of unwavering stability and recognize the realm that is free from arising, ceasing, and abiding. Similarly, whatever experiences of pleasure or pain arise in the body and speech, or whatever joy, sorrow, attachment, or aversion arises in the mind, or whatever sounds are heard, direct awareness towards them through the three unwavering aspects and rest in the state where nothing is inherently established. If you are a yogi who is accustomed to the life-force exercises and so forth, as soon as the signs of death appear and you know that death is inevitable, make effort to rest in vase breathing and the empty form. Take various measures to forcefully bring the winds and mind into the central channel. Through this, the signs of luminosity and the experiences of bliss and emptiness will spread extensively. In this state, it is also possible to transfer consciousness into the realm of reality. If you do not transfer at that time, you can continue to practice the previous methods. From the time the stages of dissolution begin to appear, do as much vajra recitation as possible. Through this, you will definitely realize the luminosity of death's own nature. If you are interested and need it at this time, you can explain in detail the stages of dissolution of the elements and the classification of the four appearances. The fiftieth point of practice. Second, showing how to enter the power of yogic practice: Even if one is most unfortunate, or has not gained special realization in this life even though life is coming to an end, as long as one does not separate from this Dharma, one will definitely attain liberation in the next life at the time of death. This can be connected with prophecies such as "The yogi who has mastery has not attained yoga." Third, the Dharma Lord Kunpang Chen.
