Thus, there are three kinds of combining actions, as stated in the tantras. These should be understood in detail elsewhere. Here, for those who are beginners, the connection with solitary withdrawal is as stated in the oral transmission of the Kalachakra: "The accumulation of solitary withdrawal is to vigorously engage in binding and restraining." What is meant by binding and restraining? As explained in "The Essence of the Three Yogas": "At night in a secluded room, the practitioner who is extremely concentrated should know from the guru's instructions the five actions and the two bindings." Therefore, this also belongs to the category of forceful combinations in the accumulation ritual mentioned in the tantras. That is, the five actions are the winds of the five senses, and the two bindings are the binding of the life force and the downward-clearing wind. Therefore, the practice of this can be done during either daytime or nighttime yoga. The two eyes are intensely focused on a small point, not on a large area. The tongue is turned back. The lips, nose, and ears are all constricted. The face is made into an angry expression. The body is twisted like a fish, and the toes are bent. The fists and cross-legged posture are held firmly. The arms are stretched out forcefully. This binds the winds of the five senses. The abdomen is alternately contracted and expanded. This alternation should not be done quickly, but rather every hour or so. This binds the life force and the downward-clearing wind. Meditate in this way for about a third or a quarter of the session. Meditate on the remainder of the session as usual. Those who have not developed realization even after meditating on withdrawal for a long time will develop it. Those who have developed it slightly but have lost it can recover it. Even if those who have previously developed it slightly have not lost it, but have not progressed beyond the initial development, meditating on this will lead to further progress. Therefore, it is called the accumulation ritual. Meditating on this from the beginning is difficult and full of obstacles, and the subsequent benefit is small. If the above three states occur, then no other meditation is necessary. Seventh, guidance on visualization. Also, in the instructions of Tsami and Galo, there are instructions for looking at a star hole and looking at a container filled with water, which may slightly belong to the accumulation ritual of empty forms, but they seem to be of minor importance. The second is that at night when sleeping, until one has mastered the physical points of withdrawal, one should

It is best to place it in this way. The body should master the posture, either squatting, or lying down in the lion's posture with the right side under, closing the eyes, and guiding the eyes to look upwards, and from the key point of the mind, looking at the sky. In this state, one should fall asleep. By the power of daytime meditation, and the connection made before falling asleep, in seven days, or half a month, or a month, etc., one will attain the clear light of sleep. If one does not attain it, then from the [heart center] that appears in one's own time wheel, rays of light emanate. All of the container and its contents dissolve into light and merge into oneself, and oneself also dissolves into light. From the edge of the mass of light, gradually disappear. At the location of the heart center, focus for a long time on a point of light the size of a sesame seed or the tip of a hair. That light point also disappears, and the mind focuses on empty space. Meditate in this way about seven times, and then proceed as before, and one will quickly attain it. Among these, there are many degrees of attaining the clear light of sleep, but for the time being, in deep sleep, if the awareness of clear emptiness is free from the defilements of conceptual thought, and various signs and phenomena appear that allow one to recognize one's own nature, then it can be counted as having attained the clear light of sleep. The eighth point of practice ends. Second, to impress the meaning of meditation on the mind: even if someone is said to be very foolish and unable to understand, or for those of great wisdom there is no need to explain, or when giving quick guidance, it is also permissible not to explain. In other situations, explaining as much as possible is the custom of the lamas, and it is very important, and the following content is similar to this. In short, it is: The meaning of the name of individual withdrawal, the time of meditation, the branches of the method of meditation, the measure of attainment of meditation, the distinction between what is to be purified and what purifies, and the fruit obtained through meditation, these six aspects. The first aspect is: In Sanskrit (Sanskrit Devanagari: संस्कृत, Sanskrit Romanization: saṃskṛta, Chinese literal meaning: well-made), "each" (Tibetan: པྲ་ཏི་, Sanskrit Devanagari: प्रति, Sanskrit Romanization: prati, Chinese literal meaning: each), "withdrawal" (Tibetan: ཨཱ་ཧ་ར་, Sanskrit Devanagari: आहार, Sanskrit Romanization: āhāra, Chinese literal meaning: food) can have various meanings depending on the context, such as withdrawal, abandonment, eating, cutting off, taking, etc. Here it means withdrawal. By connecting, "individual withdrawal" (Tibetan: པྲ་ཏྱཱ་ཧ་ར་, Sanskrit Devanagari: प्रत्याहार, Sanskrit Romanization: pratyāhāra, Chinese literal meaning: sense restraint) is individual withdrawal. Cutting off the connection between the ordinary five senses and the five objects, withdrawing the consciousness that scatters outward towards objects, and the clear light of the other five senses of the nature of wisdom.
