It is real. This is the first object of the main practice. Also, in the instructions of Paṇchen Vibhūticandra, it is said that the instructions for the four different ways of establishing the object of focus are as follows: The root of the object of focus of the finger mudrā is the same as what was said before. It is called thoughtless yoga. For example, it is said to be like a mural in a temple. At that time, due to the fault of not focusing the mind, conceptual thoughts arise, or meditation faults occur, causing awareness to become dull and entering a state of neither meditation nor sleep. Then, guide from the way of looking, like the mind dissolving into the center of the sky, strongly focus awareness. Exert all efforts to raise awareness and meditate diligently, which is called one-pointed yoga, like a monkey tied to a single door. This is the second turning of the object of focus. If, after meditating in this way, the wind rushes upwards, the eye sockets ache, fainting occurs instead of the arising of wisdom, and stinging pains arise, then without making any changes, keep the posture as before, and rest on the clarity of mind, abandoning the conceptual thoughts of the past and future, and cultivating mindfulness of recognizing one's own nature in the present awareness. This is self-liberation yoga, for example, like associating with the middle one of three brothers. This is the third turning of the object of focus. During those two stages of object of focus, the mind stays focused for a moment, and then the more you focus, the more scattered it becomes, which is the fault of focusing too much. Therefore, just keep the mindfulness of non-distraction, and without meditating on anything, relax and let go. This is effortless yoga, for example, like the sound of a drum being untied. This is the fourth turning of the object of focus. These latter three objects of focus should also be included in the first object of focus. Sometimes focus, sometimes relax, sometimes observe the nature of clear awareness, and mostly meditate by making effortless and unconstructed abiding the basis. This is the fifth turning of the object of focus. At the beginning of the first object of focus of night yoga, or in either of these two situations, enter into the excellent dark retreat of the main practice. The second is daytime yoga. The difference in its location is: the location of the wealthy, such as a hillside facing east or west, everything

The secluded place should be where rocks and trees, etc., can cast a shadow on one's body, and where one cannot be seen by others. Similarly, both should be practiced in a place where one can see a vast sky. Some lamas believe that one should not meditate where one can see oil dripping, ponds, and puddles. Some also believe that one should not face northwest, because sunlight and snow mountains, etc., with their glaring light, can harm the eyes, so these should not appear in the field of vision either. As for the time, as it says, "In the morning, face away from the sun, and in the afternoon, likewise. Avoid the midday sun as it harms the eyes." In the morning, face west, and in the afternoon, face east to meditate. If half is shaded facing north, or if there are large shadows from rocks and walls, etc., one can also meditate facing north at noon. As it is said, these should also be practiced when there are no yellow clouds, etc. Therefore, one should not practice daytime yoga in the evening, at dawn, at noon, and at other times when there are clouds and wind, but should practice nighttime yoga in a dark room. If the place, time, and other conditions are favorable, then practice this. The object of meditation is the same as the aforementioned threefold immovability. To eliminate obstacles and increase merit, one can practice the latter three key points such as single-pointed yoga. Therefore, the object of meditation for both daytime and nighttime yoga is the same. However, the difference is that the tantra says, "The cloudless sky is to be viewed by the yogi with wide-open eyes." This shows the daytime yoga, and the key point of viewing is that one needs to view with an angry gaze, staring intently with hateful eyes. Similarly, the key point of the object of focus should also replace looking at the dark sky, and be placed on something like the clear blue cloudless sky and one's own clear and bright mind being inseparable. This is the sixth part of the actual practice of the object. The second is the accumulation of merit to increase virtue, including the accumulation of merit related to the daytime, and maintaining the luminosity of sleep at night. The first is, in general, the accumulation of merit of the six-branched yoga.
