Because it depends on that. Third, what the Buddhas, fathers and sons, cherish is that for those mantra practitioners who are in accordance with the Buddha's intention, conduct, and teachings, 'These are the close relatives of the Tathagata's lineage.' This is seeing them as sons of the Buddha and regarding them as siblings of Bodhisattvas. Fourth, being in accordance with the Tathagata himself and his field of activity is wonderful and extraordinary. This is further divided into two differences: what should be learned and what should be followed. What should be learned is that the Hinayana practitioners only realize the selflessness of the individual and desire to be liberated alone; while the Mahayana practitioners realize the two selflessnesses and learn the vast altruistic activities. The mantra practitioners abide in such conduct that all dharmas are pure from the beginning, therefore there is no acceptance or rejection, just as they continuously perform vast altruistic activities through the two forms of Rupakaya. Therefore, they enter into a state that is in accordance with the Tathagata himself and his field of activity. What should be followed is also that the Hinayana practitioners follow the teachings of the past Arhats; the Mahayana practitioners follow the teachings of the Bodhisattvas who abide on the great Bhumis; while the mantra practitioners follow the teachings of the Tathagata. Fifth, all dharmas are transformed into the pure manifestations of the Buddha's pure land, therefore there is no fear or shyness. Because all dharmas of Samsara and Nirvana are naturally pure from the beginning, and there is no object of abandonment or acceptance, everything is pure as the Buddha's land. Having realized this with great wisdom and being unwavering, one will not be afraid of Samsara, because everything is naturally liberated in the great equality. Among them, the Hinayana practitioners rely on anything and only obtain liberation in one aspect and abide. The Mahayana practitioners mature sentient beings with great purpose and purify the Buddha's land. The Vajrayana practitioners realize with great wisdom that Samsara and Nirvana are inseparable, and liberate all other beings from the fear of Samsara, but they themselves do not waver from the great equality. Sixth, all the activities of vows are contained in the Vajrayana. Generally speaking, there are many vows, but there are mainly three: the Pratimoksha vow, the Bodhisattva vow, and the Vidyadhara mantra vow. For example, taking a Bhikshu as an example, possessing three antidotes, transformation of essence, and increase of merit, these three vows do not conflict in time. Among them, possessing three antidotes means that, for example, the root of the Pratimoksha vow is... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If one engages in impure conduct driven by lust, the four root vows are lost. If one generates Bodhicitta for the sake of fame and gain, praising oneself and disparaging others, or clinging to oneself merely for the sake of fame and gain, the root vow is lost. In Tantra, Bodhicitta is considered the root of Dharma, so the fifth root downfall is abandoning Bodhicitta or avoiding such a situation. Guarding the vows of the Tathagata lineage naturally possesses this essence. Furthermore, in Pratimoksha, if one takes something without giving its full value, the vow is lost. If one generates Bodhicitta but is stingy and does not give Dharma and wealth, it is also considered abandonment. In Tantra, the downfall is not giving Dharma and wealth to those who are suffering and helpless. As the scripture says: 'Not giving to the suffering and helpless, transgresses the Buddha's teachings, this is the second root downfall.' Guarding the vows of the Ratna lineage truly possesses this quality. Furthermore, if one kills someone, resulting in death, the vow is lost. If one generates Bodhicitta and does not listen even if others confess, or if one quarrels with others out of anger, or if one causes others to quarrel out of anger, the vow is lost. In Tantra, the fourth root downfall is abandoning love for sentient beings. Guarding the vows of the Karma lineage avoids falling into trouble. Furthermore, if one lies in Pratimoksha, the vow is lost. If one generates Bodhicitta and slanders the true Dharma, especially the Mahayana Dharma, or propagates similar Dharma, it also leads to abandonment. In Tantra, if one discourages sentient beings who have faith, this is the twelfth root downfall. Guarding the vows of the Padma lineage possesses this quality. As the Vajrasekhara Sutra says: 'Until one attains stability, one should be without any faults, abiding in the three vows, namely Pratimoksha, Bodhicitta, and the inner vows of Vidyadhara.' The transformation of essence is like smelting copper ore into copper, and then using alchemy to turn copper into gold. By abiding in the Pratimoksha vow and generating supreme Bodhicitta, transformation occurs. By taking the inner vows of Vidyadhara, one transforms into that state. As the Guhyasamaja Tantra says: 'For example, stone can become copper, and copper can become gold. In the stage of copper, the stone no longer exists, and when it becomes gold, the copper no longer appears.' For a Bhikshu within Vidyadhara, both Pratimoksha and Bodhicitta vows abide within oneself, and one will ultimately become a Buddha. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
