If there are good men, good women, and all other sentient beings who hear the names of these fifty-three Buddhas, they will not fall into evil realms for hundreds of thousands of millions of asamkhya kalpas (阿僧祇劫). Furthermore, if someone can recite the names of these fifty-three Buddhas, they can eliminate the four grave offenses, the five rebellious acts, and the sins of slandering the Vaipulya Sutras (方等經), all of which will be completely purified. Because of the original vows of these Buddhas, in every thought, they can eliminate the aforementioned sins. These nine lines of verse from the Avatamsaka Sutra (華嚴經): All kinds of sentient beings are encompassed by the three times; All sentient beings of the three times are encompassed by the five skandhas; All sentient beings of the five skandhas arise from karma; All karmas arise from the mind; the nature of the mind is like an illusion; Sentient beings are also like this. All sentient beings must not be casually angry. When angry, endure it, and then recite these four lines of verse: Anger is the flower of forbearance; forbearance is the fruit of the house of anger; Pluck the flower as soon as it blooms; where will you sit when the fruit is born? But people receive the Bodhisattva precepts eight victorious Dharma verses. The first is the victory of going to the path, the second is the victory of generating the mind of enlightenment, The third is the victory of merit, the fourth is the victory of the field of merit, The fifth is the victory of receiving light sins, The sixth is the victory of being in the womb, the seventh is the victory of supernatural powers, The eighth is the victory of karmic retribution. These four lines of verse are also the Dharma verses for receiving the Bodhisattva precepts: The diamond-like, unparalleled path of liberation, the ten powers (十力) of the heroic and fierce shake the three thousand great thousand worlds; Destroying the heretical Nirgrantha (尼干子) assembly, not creating causes and conditions with demons and evil. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 此四偈亦是菩萨戒香汤法。

English version: These four verses are also the Bodhisattva (Bodhisattva, an enlightened being) precept fragrant bath method. 'The minds of people in the world are moved, they love the rewards of blessed fruits, but do not love the field of blessings, seeking existence and not seeking extinction. First hearing heretical teachings, their minds become attached and deeply immersed. I am a very profound teaching, how can one understand without faith?' These four verses also require cultivating good karma. 'If you obtain a human body and do not cultivate the Way, it is like returning empty-handed from a mountain of treasures.
