If one seeks wealth and nobility, then invoke the Right Controller of Destiny (the deity who governs people's lifespan). If one wants to know whether a person is alive or dead, then invoke the Left Controller of Destiny (also governs people's lifespan, opposite to the Right Controller). If one seeks to pacify the home, dispel disasters, suppress evil, pray for peace, and turn misfortune into good fortune, then invoke the Big Dipper Envoys (envoys of the Big Dipper stars). If one wants to know whether the documents and records of hell are auspicious or inauspicious, then invoke the Five Officers Envoys (envoys of the Five Officers Kings in hell). If one seeks longevity and immortality, then invoke the Mount Tai Envoys (envoys of the deity of Mount Tai or the Eastern Peak Emperor). If one wants to move mountains and drain the seas, then invoke the Vajra Envoys (envoys of the Vajra warriors). Place clean grass outside the altar on the ground, along with a basin of clean water, forty-nine sesame oil cakes, or if there are no sesame oil cakes, forty-nine of another kind, and various fruits. Then enter the altar and recite the mantra. If you see ghosts and spirits, you must make a solemn vow, then give them food and write down their names, so you can summon them. Chapter Seven: Saying the True Words of the Heavenly Kings Vaisravanaya (Vaisravana, the Heavenly King) Deva-haraja (King of the Devas) Citta (mind) Dharani (mantra). Om (seed syllable, representing refuge) Samanta Buddhanam (universal Buddhas) Vaisravanaya (Vaisravana, the Heavenly King) Svaha (accomplished). Reciting this mantra twenty-one times will fulfill all wishes. There is also a fundamental mudra. Cross the hands with the right hand over the left. Raise the two ring fingers and join their tips together. Bend the two index fingers like hooks. When welcoming, beckon towards yourself. When sending away, push outwards. When reciting, form the mudra at the heart and recite one set of seven times, then scatter it over the head, and then take the prayer beads and concentrate on reciting the mantra.
