How can it be explained? Just as when explaining that a vase itself is empty, it must be stated 'that is that, not something else.' In the samadhi of seeing and meditation, if one abides in the ultimate truth that is beyond conceptualization, even if one does not acknowledge the existence of a consciousness that apprehends it, as long as the mind with its afflictions is impure, in order to counteract the five faults, one must practice the eight applications of mind, and from these practices, as long as the imprints of dualistic appearance are not purified, engaging in correct contemplation and mindfulness in samadhi, and entering into other qualities of realization, is not contradictory. The Establishment of the Fruition, the Ground of Buddhahood The third part includes the main subject and the marginal views. The first part has three points: the recognition of the Dharmakaya of Samadhi, the establishment of the Rupakaya of Post-Meditation, and distinguishing the two and showing the manner of engaging in activities. The first point is: 'When the stains of view are exhausted, and the waters of wisdom are completely purified, at that time, knowable and knowing cease, and abide in perfect peace.' This means that at the end of the continuum, wisdom immediately dissolves into the Dharmadhatu and becomes peaceful. For example, 'Like water into water, like oil into oil, the knowable, free from elaboration, is of that nature, inseparable wisdom is completely mixed, at that time, the self-nature Dharmakaya of all Buddhas is spoken of.' This means that the Dharmakaya of all Buddhas is one taste in the state of being free from elaboration, and is separated from all extremes such as existence and non-existence, and this name, which is nominally the ultimate truth, cannot become an object of the mind, so at that time it is separated from the consciousness that apprehends it. The second point is: 'Thereafter, following the knowable realm, as long as the false appearance of the world exists, the wise one who illuminates like a mirror is the Enjoyment Body Buddha.' Here, it refers to the school that holds that Buddhas have separate Samadhi and Post-Meditation. From the causal condition of the Dharmakaya, wisdom arises like a mirror, appearing as a body blazing with marks and signs in the minds of those to be tamed. This school does not hold that this appearance is gathered by the minds of other beings to be tamed, because they hold that the mind cannot see its own mind. They also do not hold that it is gathered by the Dharmakaya of the Buddha that was just explained, because they identify that as solely the ultimate truth, and they hold that this is a false object and a deluded consciousness. The third point is: 'The former, as it is, knows its own nature, without error, Samadhi without the entry of mind, the latter knows all that exists, illusory appearance, with the entry of post-meditation consciousness.' This means that Samadhi truly knows its own nature, is without error, and without the intervention of consciousness; Post-Meditation knows all that exists, is an illusory appearance, and has the intervention of consciousness. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even without delusion, it is not considered to be knowable, because at that time, the object of knowledge is completely pacified. If it is said that there is water in water, the analogy and meaning do not match. Then, when both the object of knowledge and the subject of knowledge must be explained as emptiness, the two become one in emptiness, and the analogy and meaning match. If asked whether the Buddha has delusion, earlier Tibetan scholars said that the Buddha has delusion, but like a magician, he knows that delusion is delusion, so there is no fault. If it is said that because the habitual tendencies of dualistic appearance have been abandoned, it is only to show to others, it would be better to say so. Secondly, how does the activity of the Sambhogakaya (enjoyment body) arise from the self-cause of the Dharmakaya (truth body)? As it is said in the scriptures: 'For the pure, whether near or far, it is like the reflection of the moon in water and sky.' Similarly, the assembly of the Nirmanakaya (emanation body) of the Buddha is the appearance of other beings' minds. Like the example of Indra's image, as the Sutra says. Appearing in the minds of other beings also applies to the Sambhogakaya. But the reason for separating it is, as it is said in the scriptures: 'Like on a pure beryl ground,' etc., distinguishing these two bodies, the Buddha's qualities have the difference between real and imputed. In the Ratnagotravibhāga (Uttaratantra), it is said: 'This is just the appearance of one's own mind, which ordinary beings cannot understand.' Although it is said that ordinary beings cannot understand it, and noble ones must understand it in this way, it is not considered so in the Bodhicaryāvatāra, because the Sambhogakaya of the Buddha is included by sentient beings, and when analyzed with reason, it would fall into admitting self-awareness. Secondly, the end of the debate is divided into two parts: establishing the views of great beings as one's own position, and showing that the extremes examined by others must be abandoned. The End of the Debate First, someone thinks that if nothing appears to the Buddha in meditative equipoise, then all the qualities such as the wings of enlightenment will disappear, and all wisdom will be cut off. Wouldn't it fall into a state of extinction that is lower than inferior nirvana? No, because of the difference of abandoning the obscurations including the habitual tendencies of the two obscurations, and the difference of perfecting the two accumulations. If it is said that the Buddha does not have wisdom and does not know the knowable, is this not a contradiction? It is not said that way. Someone says: In meditative equipoise, the Dharmakaya does not know anything, and the Buddha does not have the distinction between meditative equipoise and subsequent attainment, so the wisdom not included by the Dharmakaya does not exist. No, because there is the distinction between meditative equipoise and subsequent attainment, and he has mirror-like wisdom, and he knows the object. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
