Or, according to the Vajra empowerment, or as explained in the view of Manjushri (文殊菩萨,Wénshū Púsà, Manjushri Bodhisattva), it appears in the common deity's empowerment vase. Then, the order of how to perform the ritual. Third, how to perform the order of the ritual, divided into the ritual of accomplishing the Eight Tathagatas and the ritual of accomplishing Vajrapani (ཕྱག་ན་རྡོ་རྗེ།, Vajrapāṇi, Holder of the Vajra). The ritual of accomplishing the Eight Tathagatas: First, in the section on Vajrapani, we say, 'We directly see the Tathagatas,' and 'We also make seven images of those Tathagatas.' The Tathagatas mentioned here refer to the Eight Sugatas (བདེ་བར་གཤེགས་པ།, bde bar gshegs pa, Sugata, Gone to Bliss), as clearly stated in the sutra itself. Here, there is no mention of prostrating to these Tathagatas, so we offer the offering of reciting their names. Then, focusing on the mantras arranged on the moon disc at the heart of all eight Tathagatas, we should recite the dharani called 'Vaidoorya Light' one thousand and eight times. This is the essence of all eight Tathagatas, as Manjushri asked in the sutra: 'What is this dharani called 'Vaidoorya Light' for the Eight Tathagatas?' The answer is: 'The Eight Tathagatas spoke this dharani with one voice, and the ritual also says that reciting it one thousand and eight times will cause all the Tathagatas to remember you.' After completing the recitation in this way, we should then make the aspiration prayers of each Tathagata. The ritual of accomplishing Vajrapani: Second, if the practitioner of this ritual specifically wishes to accomplish the Lord of Secrets (金刚手,Jīngāng shǒu, Vajrapani), then the image of the Lord of Secrets (either a thangka or a painting) should face the practitioner, and focus on the mantras arranged on the moon disc at his heart. We prostrate to the seven perfectly complete Buddhas. Recite 'Tadyatha, Vajre Vajre' etc. as much as possible, and the deity will show his face. Furthermore, if the practitioner wishes the Lord of Secrets, Brahma, Indra, and the Four Great Kings to follow, protect, and save him, then he should recite 'Tadyatha, Aghu Maghu' etc. as much as possible. In short, the deities of this ritual are the Eight Tathagatas. The ritual is to recite their names and offer offerings, and recite the dharani mantras one thousand and eight times. The protectors of this ritual are the Lord of Secrets and others.
