When a Bodhisattva practices the activities within the gate of Secret Mantra, as just explained, all are aspects of conventional truth. Through the method of faith and mental engagement, the ultimate Bodhicitta (byang chub kyi sems, Bodhicitta, Bodhicitta, the mind of enlightenment) arises with the nature of aspiration. Having generated it in the manner of a prayer, one should only focus on that very ultimate Bodhicitta. This is to be experienced and generated through the power of meditation. For this, it is also necessary to first ascertain through hearing and thinking. Therefore, the nature of that mind will be explained. However, such sentences as these are not found in some translations, but they appear to be consistent with about seven translations, including that of Pa Tsha. Furthermore, the teacher has explained it that way in many treatises. However, others have made the following mistakes regarding these: They say that it is not received from the ritual of generating ultimate Bodhicitta. And they say, 'Since it is said here 'in the aspect of conventional truth,' this ritual must be combined with the ritual of generating conventional Bodhicitta.' And they say, 'Since it says here 'a Bodhisattva practices within the gate of Secret Mantra,' this is only the tradition of mantra, and there is no ritual of generating ultimate Bodhicitta in the Paramita Vehicle.' The first is unreasonable, because the great being himself says in the fourth chapter of the Fifth Stage: 'A virtuous and fortunate disciple, having received the oral instructions, with hands joined and holding a flower, that which is called ultimate Bodhicitta, should again receive it from the lama. Separated from all things, abandoning the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, as well as the apprehended and the apprehender, with the selflessness of phenomena and equality, one's own mind is primordially unborn, it is the nature of emptiness.' Thus he spoke. Thereafter, one should offer to the lama wealth that is in accordance with oneself, such as jewels, houses, elephants, and horses.' Therefore, it contradicts the clear statement of receiving through the gate of ritual. The second is also unreasonable, because the time has not come to explain that ritual here. And the following statement, 'The nature of that will be explained,' is also because it should be explained in relation to the nature of generating conventional Bodhicitta. If merely by saying 'in the aspect of conventional truth' it is necessary to combine it with the ritual of conventional mind, then it would be too extreme to have to combine it with the method of receiving aspirational mind generation because it says 'having the nature of aspiration.' The third is also unreasonable, because the teacher who composed the treatise himself, in the ritual of receiving ultimate Bodhicitta, combined it with the tradition of the Characteristic Vehicle.
