Therefore, the luminosity of self-nature is such. The recognition that the nature of mind is emptiness is that it is unborn from the beginning. The recognition of this is that it is equal in terms of both the apprehended and the apprehender, as well as the absence of self in phenomena. The recognition that such a mind is Bodhicitta is due to the reason that it is inseparable in essence from the wisdom of the Buddha. The recognition that it is ultimate truth is that it is separate from all things. The above is a brief instruction, concerning the aspect of food. The explanation is as follows: 'Aggregates, realms, and sources, both the apprehended and the apprehender are completely abandoned.' This means that through abandonment, there is purity by nature. Therefore, the so-called ultimate Bodhicitta refers to the mind that is luminous by nature, without any difference in essence in all stages of the ground, path, and fruition. If, according to the way of explaining the scriptures, only the wisdom that directly realizes emptiness is explained, then it does not conform to the meaning here. Because in this very scripture it says: 'Tathata (藏文:དེ་བཞིན་ཉིད།,梵文天城体:तथता,梵文罗马拟音:tathatā,汉语字面意思:如是) and the ultimate boundary, the signless and the ultimate meaning, the supreme Bodhicitta is it, and it is also called emptiness.' Having established its nature, next is how to generate it in the continuum. How to generate ultimate Bodhicitta in the continuum. The second part has four aspects: How to generate ultimate Bodhicitta in the continuum, and to ascertain the nature of this mind, and after generating this mind, it is necessary to benefit sentient beings, and to summarize and conclude by praising Bodhicitta. The first part has two aspects: to grasp through aspiration with a conventional image; and to experience through the power of meditation with an ultimate nature. The first aspect is: The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and the great Bodhisattvas, just as they generated great Bodhicitta, so too, from this moment on, until I reach the essence of Bodhicitta, I will generate great Bodhicitta. One should say this. To generate the mind for the sake of general benefit is for the sake of liberating sentient beings who have not yet been liberated from the lower realms, for liberating sentient beings who have not yet been liberated from samsara, for generating the mind of emptiness and great compassion in sentient beings who have not yet generated it, and for the sake of causing sentient beings who have not yet attained complete nirvana in the state of Buddhahood to attain complete nirvana. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
