He said that even if there is only a little understanding, if you don't know how to practice, it will not be effective. However, once you have experience, even a little understanding can prevent the spread of afflictions and delusions. The following is how to make vows: In short, one must have a thorough understanding of the view, know the key points of practice, and have a real understanding of the faults of samsara and the seeds of liberation, not just stay on the words. After generating firm faith in the merits of the teacher and the Dharma, if one does not take practice as the core, but indulges in the phenomena of this life, then what else can my heart be other than rotten? Therefore, one must use the remaining life, not waste time in remote areas, not let life and practice be unbalanced, and not gather followers by pretending to be altruistic and indulging in the phenomena of this life. If one indulges in worldly pleasures and laziness, then the Dharma protectors will smash my head like smashing the head of Ardzaka. In addition, in front of the Yidam deity, I make these vows: With the pollen on the lotus petals of the feet, Brahma, Indra, Vishnu, etc., the arrogant of the world respectfully hold on the crown of their heads, please, Compassionate Avalokiteśvara, have mercy on me! Although I have heard a lot, my mind is distracted by other things; although I have received hundreds of precepts, I am stained with the dirt of violations. Please, wise and compassionate deity, take a moment to think about these false vows of mine. Wherever I am, if the enjoyment increases, my mind is bound by the ropes of fame and gain, and the minds of others are struck by jealousy and competition, I will not stay there for a moment. From now on, until the end of my life, I will always live like a rhinoceros in the snow mountains, valleys, and forests, and will not live in towns and crowds. I will never be shaken by the eight worldly concerns. Before I have gained stability in my mind, except for taming my own mind, I will not sacrifice my own interests for the sake of benefiting others. Except for the three Dharma robes and the alms bowl, and the necessities to maintain my life, I will not hold any extra items such as gold and silver for myself. I will never talk about the faults of others, and I will never say false gossip except for meaningful and Dharma-related things, such as wars, thefts, and stories of kings. For the sake of the Dharma, I will endure difficulties and tests, abandon the world, and pursue liberation. I will only support no more than four followers who share my aspirations and are content with little. If I violate these vows... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I act contrary to my vows, may the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and the compassionate Lord Avalokiteśvara, treat me equally with dogs, pigs, sheep, and donkeys. Please remember what I have said and practice it accordingly. Even if I die, there will be no other testament. Even if we meet again, I will have nothing else to say.' Thus he spoke. The way to devote oneself to solitude: The reason why I practice solitude is not because I am tired of worldly associations or because I desire fame and gain. Rather, it is because I see the suffering of samsara as unbearable as a burning fire, and I see the solitary place praised by the Blessed One in many ways as more desirable than a garden of lotuses. Like this: To the teacher who has no faults, who is glorious with wonderful qualities, whose banner of fame waves in the three worlds, the Lord of Sages, the god of gods, I pay homage! Listen, wise friends! The sun of the teachings is setting on the western mountain. Life is like a flowing stream. Those who desire liberation should be vigilant. Even the universal monarch who possesses the seven precious things, rules the four great continents, has immeasurable life, enjoys the glory of the ten virtues, and enjoys perfect happiness is like a tree in the water. Even Indra, who dwells long on the summit of Mount Meru, enjoys the glory of happiness in the garden of delight, is revered by the assembly of immortal gods, and has a thousand eyes, is a slave of existence. Far from the pain of body and mind, passing many kalpas with the bliss of samadhi, the creator of the world, who has a golden drum, is still far from the state of immortality. Who can endure the pain of hell, where the flames burn the body, which can turn the solid Mount Meru into dust in an instant with a single touch? Who can bear the suffering of the various animals, where ignorance obscures the distinction between right and wrong, where they devour each other like sparks in stone, and where filthy rain constantly falls on their bodies? The perfections of existence are so insignificant and full of so many faults, therefore, for the benefit of oneself and others, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ན་སྲིད་པའི་
