Because of not abandoning the view of self, one cannot transcend the world. Like this, entering into the embrace of a mind attached to "I", therefore those evil deeds will not cease. Like this, because karma has not ceased, therefore when the fruition of karma ripens, it will not cease. If one cannot be liberated from karma and life, one will not attain liberation. Buddhists believe this. Buddhists' own treatises say that the phenomena of the inner and outer world, having the nature of cause and effect, are unanimously considered by both Mahayana and Hinayana to be of the nature of arising dependently. It is said like this: These phenomena of the inner and outer world are not created by Ishvara, not made by a maker, not arising from inherent nature, not arising from no cause, not transformed by time, but are merely accomplished by the nature of arising dependently on causes and conditions. Cause depends on effect, effect depends on cause, there is no self-origination. If cause and conditions gather, then the effect will arise, if they do not gather, then it will not arise. There is no cause in which there is no obstruction of interruption, such a cause also does not exist, it merely depends on conditions. Therefore, it is possible to transcend all arising and suffering dharmas of the world, and enter into the realm of nirvana without remainder. It is consistent to believe this. Therefore, all Buddhists believe that the root of afflictions is the view of the perishable aggregate, abandoning this, abiding in the view of emptiness and selflessness, abiding in the three doors of liberation, namely the samadhi of emptiness, the samadhi of signlessness, and the samadhi of wishlessness, it is consistent to believe that one can be liberated in this way. Among them, the internal difference among Buddhists is that the Shravakas say this: This is merely a skandha, I have never existed. The city of the senses and the realms, cause the world to decay in vain. They say that for the phenomena of the inner and outer world, the so-called "I" does not exist even to the extent of one millionth of a hair tip, it is completely just a skandha. There is no separate "I", it is merely the nature of impermanence of many gathered together. If destroyed by an antidote, such a mind will not arise, if other is eliminated by mind, such a mind will not arise, this is the opposite of the existence of conventional truth.

are truly existent. This is their view. Among them, the Vaibhashikas and the Sautrantikas hold different views. The Vaibhashikas, relying on the treatise called "The Great Vaibhasha," assert that all dharmas exist as substances. That is to say, based on the aggregates, elements, and sources, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, and the three unconditioned phenomena are permanent. Based on the faculties and objects, the subtle particles that conform to shape, are indivisible, and are truly existent substances. The consciousness that relies on the faculties and objects directly determines the object, and therefore consciousness arises without aspects. This is what they say. The Sautrantikas are called Sautrantikas because they uphold the authority of the sutras in general. They believe that all unconditioned phenomena are like the child of a barren woman. Among them, the nature of cessation through discrimination, Nirvana, is like ice melting into water. They also believe that non-associated formations and non-manifest forms are not substances. The consciousness that arises when faculties and objects meet arises with aspects, and the faculties and objects are also subtle particles that conform to color, and are existent substances. There are many differences in views such as these. Even among the Vaibhashikas themselves, there are differences based on region, such as the Kashmir Vaibhashikas and the Central Region Vaibhashikas. Furthermore, based on the aggregates, elements, and sources, due to the differences in schools, there are many different claims about how many substances exist. For example, some schools believe that from the basis of form, the five objects, five faculties, and four great elements, a total of fourteen, are substances. Mind and all mental factors are one substance, totaling fifteen. All non-associated formations are one substance, totaling sixteen. The three unconditioned phenomena are three substances, totaling nineteen. This is their view. Some schools believe that feeling and perception also exist, so there are twenty-one substances. This is their view. Some schools believe that all five aggregates taught by the Buddha are established as substances, so intention is also an existent substance. Thus, there are twenty-two substances. This is their view. Some schools believe that from the basis of the aggregates, elements, and sources, everything that is spoken of is a substance.
