I, both are the same in being without substance, and what appears to be established as substance is also like the object of perception. According to the tradition of the noble Pratyekabuddhas, through the twelve links of dependent origination, one realizes the profound nature of reality, and having abandoned all the afflictions of the three realms that are to be abandoned by seeing and meditating, one attains the fruit of self-enlightenment. Therefore, by the power of the twelve links of dependent origination, each one becomes both the path of non-interruption and the path of liberation. Thus, even one affliction to be abandoned by seeing becomes twelve. Furthermore, each of those links is also characterized by the four truths. For example, due to ignorance, actions and so on are manifestly accomplished, becoming of a nature that harms like a burden, so it is the characteristic of the truth of suffering. Due to actions, consciousness and so on become the place where suffering will manifestly arise in the future, so it is the truth of origin. With the cessation of ignorance, the cessation of actions and so on, is the truth of cessation. In order to cease these, meditating on the nature of dependent origination as the path, so it is the truth of the path. Therefore, by the power of the four truths, even one affliction to be abandoned becomes forty-eight. In this way, one cannot find a definite number of substances for the afflictions. According to the tradition of the Yogācāra school, the nature of the mind and mental factors of the three realms, the unreal imaginary, is not something that is apprehended, nor is it something that apprehends, but is accepted by the established tenet that emptiness of the two is merely the nature of self-awareness. In that case, it contradicts the nature of the afflictions, because the afflictions are of a reversed aspect that arises in relation to an object. Or, it is said like this: for example, when there is gold in the earth, three things are distinguished: earth, gold, and the element of earth. Among them, seeing gold as earth is a reversed view. Seeing it as gold is a correct view. The element of earth belongs to both. Similarly, in the nature of other-powered, the apprehended is
