Everything will also become completely peaceful. Therefore, these are merely characteristics established to facilitate practice. Even the mere appearance of their respective functions does not deceive. If measured with an impartial mind, the more pure those appearances are, the more they will be recognized as true. The minds of those who enter these meanings are also not common. Some learn like the great Shravakas. Some learn like the Bodhisattvas who dwell on the great earth. Some learn like the Buddhas, thus entering the nature of non-duality. Know that learning and practicing those uncommon dharmas, and so on, is the fourth way. Those are the four foundational aspects that explain the five aspects of the Jewel. Now, we will speak of those turnings of the wheel. Those turnings of the wheel of Dharma in various ways, due to the power of taming, have taught and will teach eighty-four thousand doors of Dharma through the five vehicles. From those, they also show five ultimate tenets. The ultimate of those is, know that it is precisely this certainty of the glorious secret essence. This should be known. Among these, due to the power of taming, is the distinction of taming through speech. The five vehicles are: the vehicle of gods and humans, the vehicle of Shravakas, the vehicle of Pratyekabuddhas, the vehicle of Bodhisattvas, and the vehicle of the unsurpassed secret. Among these, the vehicle of humans and gods, as it says in the later tantra of this very text: Practicing the ten virtues and abandoning non-virtue, is the cause of being born as gods and humans in the desire realm. Practicing the four immeasurables and meditating on unwavering samadhi, is the cause of being born in the Brahma realms and so on. This is what is said. Among these, the etymology of the word 'human' (mi) is: When the first human, called 'Manusya' (藏文:མ་ནུ་ཤ་,梵文天城体:मनुष्य,梵文罗马拟音:Manusya,汉语字面意思:人), descended from the gods in the first kalpa, there arose a lord of beings called 'Mana' (藏文:མ་ན་,梵文天城体:मन,梵文罗马拟音:Mana,汉语字面意思:意). Others also arose through his power, therefore they are called 'Manusya'. In this way, because they are born from strength, they are called humans. In another way, 'Samanakara' (藏文:ཤ་མ་ན་ཀ་ར་,梵文天城体:समनकर,梵文罗马拟音:Samanakara,汉语字面意思:行为者) refers to those who act properly. Or, 'Shama' is tamed or subdued, and 'na' is a particle of speech.

Therefore, it is called "person" for certainty. Also, "mana" is the nature of arrogance, and it is called "person" because it possesses or subdues arrogance. The etymology of the word "deva" is: Deva (Tibetan, Devanagari, deva, god), Devasa (Tibetan, Devanagari, devasa, god), it is called "deva" because the light of day is long. Similarly, by that very sound, peacefulness, becoming a great lamp of light, auspiciousness, and the sun, therefore it is called "deva." Also, Devihaya (Tibetan, Devanagari, devihaya, god), because it acts in the sky, the homes of most of the gods of the heavenly realm reside in the sky, therefore it is called "deva." Furthermore, Amara (Tibetan, Devanagari, amara, immortal), because it enjoys the food of nectar, the causes of death in the bardo are reduced, and it is also extended to longevity. Sura (Tibetan, Devanagari, sura, god), because the obstacles of Asuras and other demonic beings are difficult to overcome, it is also extended to "hero." Trimshika (Tibetan, Devanagari, trimshika, thirty), because the gods do not become older than the age of thirty, it is called "thirty." The definitive meaning of the word "deva" should be explained by those particularly shown words and so on. The Hearer Vehicle is: In that itself, it says: Those who understand the meaning of the Four Noble Truths, those who renounce extremely, those who cultivate the sixteen wisdoms, those who are extremely peaceful, after gradually cultivating the Stream-enterer and so on, the enemies of afflictions go to the land of peace. Thus it is said. Here also, the view of the Hearer Vaibhashikas is: They believe that the consciousness arising from the encounter of the senses and objects arises without images. The senses and objects are also the same as above, with extremely subtle particles existing as substance. All conditioned phenomena are selfless and impermanent, and Nirvana is considered to be permanent. The cause of suffering is affliction, and by cultivating the antidote path, the four fruits of Stream-enterer and so on are attained, and ultimately they will transform into the realm of Nirvana with remainder and Nirvana without remainder, so they believe. The Sautrantikas believe that the consciousness arising from the senses and objects arises with images. The senses and objects are also considered to be extremely subtle particles corresponding to colors. Unconditioned phenomena are also considered to be like the son of a barren woman. Furthermore, the Sautrantikas realize that most of the phenomena that the Vaibhashikas consider to be substantial are not substantial. Why is it called "Hearer"? Because it is called Pravaka (Tibetan, Devanagari, pravaka, speaker).
