It is called being free from karma. No matter how much virtue is accumulated, there is no expectation for the fruit of Buddhahood; no matter how much evil is committed, there is no fear of falling into evil realms and hell. Regarding this, it is said that karma and its ripening do not taint it. Regarding this, it is not like craftsmanship, desire, or artifice, but it is explained in all teachings. In the extensive Prajñāpāramitā Sutra, it is also said: "The nature of all dharmas is emptiness; there is no karma, nor is there the ripening of karma." In the One Hundred and Fifty Verses, it is also said: "Just as a red lotus is not stained by the faults of wrongdoing, similarly, dharmas in emptiness are not stained by the faults of karma." In the Akasagarbha Sutra, it is said: "If one is dominated by karma, there will be no self-born wisdom." In the Vajra Mountain King Palace Sutra, it is said: "I am empty by myself, others are empty by others, both are empty by both, and what is not both is also empty by what is not both. What is not both is empty by the infinite, because of the imputation upon what is not real." In the Ocean of Intelligence Sutra, it is said: "These Mahayana sutras do not conform to the world. Why? Because all sentient beings are free from following the ordinary." Therefore, it is said that by understanding that everything is a delusion of one's own mind, one can thoroughly understand the meaning of dharmata and be free from the root of virtue and vice. The king asked: "Great Teacher, if there is no bardo at the time of death, how does one attain Buddhahood?" The teacher replied: "Noble protector, listen! The yogi, with supreme wisdom, does not cling to external appearances, cuts off the false clinging to appearances, and appearances are naturally liberated. The objects of appearance do not arise in the bardo. The external container world has no birth, and the nature of the internal clinging mind is not established in any way, so samsara is naturally liberated. There is no mental body in the bardo, the wombs of the six realms are empty, there is no cause for birth, and dharmata is naturally pure. When the yogi abandons the body, awareness merges with space, and from that, the pulling of virtue and vice is exhausted." The king asked: "Great Teacher, in that case, how does the fruit of the three kayas arise?" The teacher replied: "The dharmata of..."

Transcending the realm of peaceful speech, being nothing at all, the state like the sky is called the fruition Dharmakaya. From the state of Dharmakaya, which is like the sky, the Sambhogakaya, like a cloud, adorned with marks and signs, appears to the faces of the Bodhisattvas of the ten bhumis. The Nirmanakaya, like rain, emanates immeasurable manifestations, doing what is needed to tame each being. Thus it is said. From the Tantra of the Hidden Bindu: From the state of empty space, the nature of water-holding clouds forms. That also falls as rain, like the growth of plants and forests. The Dharmakaya is inconceivable, the realm of realization of the three yogas. From that, the Sambhogakaya arises, the realm of the Mahayana Bodhisattvas. From that, the Nirmanakaya arises, the realm of fortunate beings. Thus it is said. This is the way the three Kayas of fruition arise. The master's advice to the king: Lord, hold this in your mind! Life is short, practice the meaning of this profound Dharma! Even with profound understanding, continuously perform virtuous deeds without interruption! Obtain the seal of non-action! If you show this Dharma to others, it will go to a place of slander, so do not spread it, hide it as a treasure! At the end of time, I will meet with you, the king. Thus he taught and sealed it. The king rejoiced, and at that moment, his awareness was liberated into its own place. He was extremely grateful to the master. The secret path of secret mantra: The essential instruction for the great sinner to attain Buddhahood first. Treasure seal. Hidden seal. Entrusted seal. To the great master Padmasambhava, King Trisong Detsen, offering a golden mandala, asked: Emaho! Great master! Please teach a practice that does not contradict either the Greater or Lesser Vehicle. The master gave advice: Emaho! Great king! Obtaining a perfect human body and being reborn as a king with merit is rare, so cherish governing the country and spreading the Dharma. Worldly affairs, even with strict laws, harm sentient beings, so cherish cultivating the mind of Bodhicitta. Even if you cherish and protect this illusory body, you do not know when you will die. White hair and wrinkles are signs of death.
