It is in the nature of things that I come. If one engages in unbiased hearing and thinking, it is in the nature of things that one has less bias towards the Dharma. If one meditates on the profound generation and completion stages, it is in the nature of things that power and blessings will come. If one does not conform to ordinary worldly customs and appearances, it is in the nature of things that there will be less fabrication and slander. If one lets go of attachment and clinging, it is in the nature of things that body and mind will be comfortable all at once. If one stays in a secluded hermitage, it is in the nature of things that experiences will arise in the mind. If one abandons self-grasping and cherishing, it is in the nature of things that obstacles and demons will not be able to harm one. If the mind looks at the mind, it is in the nature of things that the nature of things will arise in oneself. If one always strives in practice, it is in the nature of things that qualities will arise without bias. If one recognizes the nature of one's own mind, it is in the nature of things that effort and practice will be liberated in their own place. If one realizes samsara and nirvana as the Dharmakaya, it is in the nature of things that one does not need to strive in meditation. If one does not become lazy in practice, it is in the nature of things that one will not regret it at the time of death. Please be a servant to the lineage of the Dharma King, and the bliss of the Buddha will arise in you, he said. Then the Lord asked: In that case, since doubt is the enemy of the Dharma, how should the measure of faith in all the Dharmas be taken? The teacher said: If you do not subdue your afflictions, believe that subduing enemies and increasing wealth will be meaningless and will only make your own mind suffer. If you do not cultivate virtuous deeds of Dharma practice, believe that even if you take care of your loved ones for a lifetime, they will not be able to save you at the time of death. If you do not take the ultimate refuge of the Buddha, believe that grasping at worldly gain and fame will only throw you back into samsara. If you do not abide in the immutable fortress, believe that even if you build a good castle of earth and stone, you will have to leave it behind. If you do not accumulate the two accumulations, believe that even if you accumulate wealth, you will not be able to use it after death. If you do not rely on the nectar of the nature of things, believe that even if you eat all kinds of delicious food, it will become impure. If you do not attain the unborn Dharmakaya, believe that even if you cherish and cherish the body of flesh and blood, the borrowed elements will be taken away by the owner. If you do not associate with skillful means and wisdom, believe that even if you associate with thousands of like-minded friends, you will quickly separate and leave. If you do not meet with the inexpressible meaning, believe that even if fame spreads throughout the three thousand worlds, it is a deceiving demon. If you do not gain control over your own mind, believe that even if you have the power and army of a universal monarch, you will not be able to control yourself when the time of death comes.

Have faith. If you do not have the talent of wisdom and knowledge, even if you are brave like a mighty giant, believe that you cannot reverse the battle of samsara. If you do not understand the meaning of emptiness, primordial purity, believe that even if you become a lion of speech, you cannot overcome the results of karma. If you do not find great bliss within yourself, believe that even if you ride a fine horse, you cannot escape the suffering of samsara. If you are not adorned with the great qualities of the Buddha, believe that even if you are as beautiful as a minor god of the sky, you will not want the deception of the Lord of Death. If you do not come under the protection of the Lama and the Three Jewels, believe that no one will protect you from the enemy of afflictions. If you do not realize that your own mind is the Buddha, believe that you will be deceived by all other thoughts. Therefore, since all worldly activities that do not become the cause of liberation and enlightenment are meaningless, believe that they are without essence like a water tree, he said. Again, the lord asked: Great teacher, even though it is taught in this way, most of those who enter the Dharma do not understand, and few turn away from worldly activities. How is this so? The teacher replied: The cause, effect, and nature of samsara is ignorance, he said. That also arises from not abandoning the ego-grasping and subject-object duality, which is the cause of samsara. Although self and all sentient beings are one in the mind of enlightenment, it is meaningless to differentiate between self and others. Although all sentient beings of the three realms are parents from previous lives and even earlier, it is meaningless to hold them as enemies and friends. At this time when samsara and nirvana are being distinguished, it is meaningless to have time to maintain the eight worldly dharmas. Although this life lasts only for a moment like a clay ground, it is meaningless to build many walls of castles and houses. It is meaningless to grasp at the self so much that one cannot even bear the prick of a thorn in a body filled with impure substances. It is meaningless to hope that one is permanent when all friends and relatives are impermanent and dying. It is meaningless to seek food and wealth by committing various misdeeds when one goes empty-handed at the time of one's death. It is meaningless to hope that enjoyment is permanent when external appearances also change and continue to change without staying. It is meaningless to be lazy and negligent when life diminishes like the shadow of the setting sun.
