Now, without sectarianism, virtues naturally arise all that is needed, becoming the basis for the emergence of all that is good, skilled in the means of taming all beings, activities Is to stimulate the mindstream of the Sugata, possessing the life force of the eight classes of gods and demons, born on an ocean island, ruling the kingdom in the land of Oddiyana (Orgyen), practicing in the eight great charnel grounds, practicing austerities in the land of India, arriving in Tibet with compassion, fulfilling the wishes of the Tibetan Emperor, bringing happiness to the land of Tibet, to the one with such kindness, Jomo Kharchenza Tso Gyal, becoming the son of a woman, possessing faith, great compassion and altruism, with an upright mind and intelligence, at the age of thirteen, became the consort of the master, the master stayed in Tibet for one hundred and eleven years, serving and pleasing him, extracting the essence of the instructions, giving all the essence of his heart, without leaving anything out, gathering all the teachings spoken during that time, writing them down, and sealing them as a precious treasure. Guru Padmasambhava said: To practice Dharma, one must fully study the ten limits of learning. Jomo asked what those ten were? He replied: Deciding with view, Like a garuda soaring in the sky, one must encompass all Dharmas underneath; abandoning with conduct, like an elephant entering water, one must be unstoppable by anything; taking up with samadhi, like lighting a lamp in a dark room, one must dispel the darkness of ignorance; accomplishing the meaning with instructions, like obtaining a wish-fulfilling jewel, one must liberate all Dharmas into meaning; proceeding in stages with empowerment, like a prince ascending the throne, one must be free from the fear of falling into samsara; holding the root with vows, like fertile land, one must not waste anything one does; liberating the continuum with hearing, like a parrot breaking free from its cage, one must be proficient in all aspects of Dharma; comparing all doors, like a bee searching for a hive, one must know all the tenets of Dharma; gathering into one essence, like a merchant making a profit, one must know all Dharmas as one taste; the wise

It is said that it is necessary to understand the meaning of all Dharmas clearly and without confusion, like reaching the summit of Mount Meru. Tibetans who aspire to be wise without studying these are actually not proficient in Dharma and have biases towards it. It is said that this is due to not studying the ten boundaries of learning. Guru Padmasambhava said: Not studying the ten boundaries of learning has ten faults. Jo-mo asked: What are they like? He replied: If the view is not definitive, there is the fault of not knowing where to go; if conduct is abandoned, there is the fault of not knowing the union of view and conduct; if one does not know how to experience with Samadhi, one does not see the meaning of Dharmata; if one does not accomplish the meaning with pith instructions, one does not know how to experience; if one does not proceed through empowerment in stages, one cannot practice Dharma; if the foundation is not grasped with vows, whatever one does sows the seeds of falling into hell; if the continuum is not liberated through hearing, one cannot taste the flavor of Dharma; if one does not compare from all aspects, one cannot determine the position of the philosophical school; if one does not summarize into one point, one does not know the root of Dharma; if one is not the most outstanding wise person, one does not see the meaning of Dharma. Those who have not studied Dharma but are revered as virtuous friends do not understand the unbiased Dharma, and they argue fiercely with each other about Dharma. One should not stubbornly cling to one's own school as the truth, but should put down the arguments. Guru Padmasambhava said: Practicing Dharma requires having ten essentials. Jo-mo asked: What are the ten essentials? He replied: The essential of faith needs to be like a river, without increase or decrease; the essential of compassion needs to be like the sun, without enemies or friends; the essential of generosity needs to be like drinking water, without bias; the essential of vows needs to be like a crystal ball, without impurities; the essential of view needs to be like the sky, without partiality; the essential of meditation needs to be like dawn, without clarity or obscurity; the essential of conduct needs to be like dogs and pigs, without acceptance or rejection; the essential of the result needs to be like reaching the island of precious gold, without abandonment; the longing for Dharma needs to be like a thirsty person seeking water. In general, people nowadays do not put their energy into Dharma, but put their energy into wealth. It is necessary that one's wealth is exhausted at the time of death, and one does not fall into the lower realms. Guru Padmasambhava said: There are many people who argue endlessly about Dharma. Jo-mo asked: What is that? He replied: Because there is no faith.
