Being harmonious. Speaking peacefully and calmly, speaking frankly, being loving to all sentient beings, being without attachment, and having no doubt about the results of karma and the correct meaning. Fourth, there are ten companions that cause these to remain in the continuum: having faith in the correct Dharma, abiding in having shame and conscience, not gambling and having no disputes, not watching crowded markets, always acting cautiously, being without laziness, not associating with sinful friends, thoroughly subduing body, speech, and mind, meditating on the four Brahmaviharas, and especially focusing on the excellent path of mind. TsoGyal, practice like this, and there will be no doubt about the result of higher rebirth. The teacher, Jomo, asked: Third, what are the ten perfections of engaging in action like? The teacher said: There are five aspects to the perfections of engaging in action: First, the general nature is the very nature of the path to accomplish unsurpassed enlightenment. Second, the definition is that it causes one to cross the ocean of samsara and reach the great other shore. Third, the function is that after perfecting the two accumulations, it specifically accomplishes the benefit of sentient beings. Fourth, the divisions are of two types, general and specific. The general divisions are: Generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, concentration, and wisdom, there are six perfections. The specific divisions are: There are three types of generosity: Dharma generosity, material generosity, and fearlessness generosity. There are also three types of discipline: the discipline of vows, the discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas, and the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. In order, they are to refrain from the ten non-virtuous actions, practice the six perfections, and the four ways of gathering. There are also three types of patience: patience that does not mind suffering in order to abandon samsara; patience that willingly accepts difficulties in order to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings; and patience that has firm faith in the Dharma and is not afraid of profound teachings. There are also three types of diligence: diligence in applying oneself to the Dharma of the Great Vehicle; diligence in averting unfavorable conditions;

To realize the omniscient Buddha, one needs tireless diligence, it is said. There are also three types of Samadhi: Samadhi that aims at the true path of the world; Samadhi that aims at the path beyond the world; and Samadhi that aims at a common goal, these are the three, it is said. There are also three types of wisdom: wisdom that realizes that phenomena are without object; wisdom that realizes that the nature of phenomena is without object; and wisdom that realizes that the two are great equality, these are the three, it is said. Fifth, one must know that each of these methods that rely on one's own continuum must be complete with the four perfections: giving without expecting a return, which destroys stinginess and poverty, is the perfection of power; being free from the thoughts of ordinary beings and inferior vehicles, is the perfection of means; wishing that the poverty of myself and all sentient beings could be cut off, giving with such a mind, is the perfection of aspiration; giving in a way that the three spheres are completely pure, is the perfection of wisdom, it is said. Similarly, the discipline that does not desire the fruits of samsara, which destroys non-virtue, is power; guarding the discipline without harboring the thought of the eight worldly concerns, is means; not only hoping that oneself will become a god or human, but hoping that the discipline of all sentient beings will never be interrupted, is aspiration; not clinging to the three spheres, is wisdom. Patience that is equal to all, which destroys anger, is power; not for worldly purposes such as hypocrisy, is means; not only hoping that oneself will have the beautiful appearance of gods and humans, but hoping that all ugly beings can be pacified, is aspiration; these do not cling to the three spheres, is wisdom. Diligence that remembers the qualities, which destroys laziness, is power; not expecting others, determining that it is not worldly affairs and non-affairs, is means; wishing to cut off the laziness of sentient beings and strive on the true path, is aspiration; not clinging to the three spheres, is wisdom. Samadhi that abandons the formless realm, which destroys distraction, is power; not desiring the status of gods and humans, but for the sake of accomplishing the perfect qualities of unsurpassed enlightenment, is means; wishing that the distraction of all sentient beings could be cut off.
