Sa! Having taken the vows of the Greater and Lesser Vehicles, do not abandon them even for the sake of your life! Even if you break them a hundred times, it is important to confess and restrain yourself with a feeling of regret! Some people break all their vows and then engage in actions that break them further! It's like washing your feet after slipping in the mud and then smearing them with ashes, which makes it impossible to clean them at all! Do not allow the breaking of vows and commitments to mix together even for a moment! It's like wearing white clothes and going among black things, which will inevitably cause them to become black! If your own vows are pure, they will inevitably be damaged and defiled! If your own vows are not pure, it's like black cannot stain black, so be very careful! In short, you must be able to do something that you are not ashamed of, he said. Guru Padmasambhava said: What should one do to accumulate the accumulations of merit and wisdom? Do not do anything that is not Dharma! Desire nothing other than the omniscient Buddha and the benefit of sentient beings! Do not be attached to anything! Attachment itself is the root of bondage! Do not denigrate the Dharma or individuals! All Dharmas are indistinguishable in meaning and result, like the taste of salt! Do not denigrate any vehicle! Like the rungs of a ladder, the meaning is the same! Because you do not have clairvoyance, you cannot understand the capacity of individuals, so do not accuse others! In general, all sentient beings are naturally accomplished Buddhas, possessing the essence of bodhichitta! Do not observe the faults and mistakes of others! Do not observe the end of others, but observe what your own end will become! Do not observe the faults of others, but observe your own faults! In short, among sins, arguing in the name of Dharma and accusing others are the two greatest sins, he said. Guru Padmasambhava said: From beginningless time, no matter how many bodies you have taken, you have not accomplished the benefit of yourself and others! Therefore, now you must use this body to accomplish the benefit of yourself and others! No matter how many bodies you have taken in previous lives, you have not had time to practice Dharma! Therefore, now you must strive to encounter the Dharma and practice diligently! Rely on friends who increase virtue! Abandon friends who increase sin! Do not be greedy like dogs and hungry ghosts! If you do not relax with the antidote, your bad mindstream will burn the mindstreams of yourself and others, accumulating sin! If you think of a slightly uncomfortable thing as suffering, it will become more and more painful! Yourself

If you don't relax and let go, you won't find happiness. Don't dwell on the suffering of the past, and don't anticipate the future. Whatever suffering arises in the present, don't blame it on external circumstances. Repeatedly search for the source of suffering within your own mind. In short, if you don't apply an antidote to your mind, suffering will never cease. Changing your mindset is crucial, so it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: When diligently practicing Dharma, whatever virtuous roots you create, always prioritize learning to benefit others. The distinction between the Greater and Lesser Vehicles is not determined by view, but by compassion. Therefore, cultivate familiarity with great compassion. For the sake of yourself and others, never turn back from abandoning the suffering of samsara. Cultivate familiarity with renunciation of samsara, and cultivate familiarity with compassion for the sake of others. First, cultivate familiarity with seeing all sentient beings as equal to yourself. Cultivate familiarity with feeling their suffering as your own. Then, cultivate familiarity with cherishing all sentient beings more than yourself. Cultivate familiarity with great compassion that spontaneously arises for the sake of others. In short, merely by cherishing sentient beings more than yourself, you obtain the name of the Great Vehicle. If you forget the suffering of sentient beings, live comfortably, and only cherish yourself, you will not attain the Great Vehicle, so it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: If you cultivate familiarity with loving-kindness, compassion, and the mind of enlightenment, you will not be reborn in the three lower realms. Because you will not regress from this point forward, this alone is the essential instruction. Wherever you go, let the mind of enlightenment accompany you inseparable from your mind. Whatever you do, learn for the benefit of sentient beings. Learn to cherish others more than yourself. Upholding vows and commitments brings many qualities. Even if you gain power from mantras and become mighty, you will not attain Buddhahood without cultivating the mind of enlightenment. In short, if the mind of enlightenment arises within you, all common and uncommon siddhis will arise from this. Therefore, this alone is the essential instruction, so it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: Whether you meditate on emptiness or any other practice, if it does not become an antidote to afflictions and ordinariness, it is not meditation. If it does not become an antidote to afflictions, it will become a cause for falling into samsara. All hearing, contemplating, and explaining the Dharma must become an antidote to afflictions, and generate pure Dharma within your mind.
