and above it, visualize your kind root guru in his constant form, with his hands in the teaching or meditative mudra, abiding in whatever posture is comfortable. Visualize his body radiating supreme splendor, fully endowed with the beauty of the marks and signs. For beginners, do not think too much about intricate details at first, but visualize clearly and meditate single-mindedly. When a clear vision arises, and with intense devotion and longing, recite: "Glorious root guru, precious one, please abide on the lotus seat on my head, with your great kindness, hold me with compassion, grant me the attainments of body, speech, and mind." And, "Essence of all Buddhas of the three times, Lama Rinpoche, please heed me. Please bless my being to ripen and be liberated. Please bless the special realizations of the profound path to arise in my being. Please bless me to quickly attain the supreme accomplishment of Mahamudra in this very life." Pray in this way, reciting hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands, even millions of times, but at least three times. In short, until the realization of devotion increases more and more, pray persistently from the depths of your heart. Afterward, the guru, with great joy, dissolves into a sphere of five-colored light and melts from your crown into your heart, your body, speech, and mind becoming one with the guru's three vajras, separating from the thought of grasping at duality, and abide in the state of non-elaboration and great bliss, meditating as much as possible. Finally, dedicate the merit with "By this virtue," etc. Although this is not explicitly stated in the main text, it is the custom of the great tertön, the King of Dharma, to perform it as the opening ceremony for each gathering or meditation session. Next, the second part is the common preliminaries that make the path a suitable vessel, which is the teaching that shows the steps of the common vehicle path. As the root text says: "Leisure and endowment are hard to find and easily destroyed, the faults of samsara and the law of cause and effect, taking refuge, generating bodhicitta, purifying sins, accumulating merit, making supplications, and receiving empowerment: these ten show the common path steps." Therefore, first is contemplating the difficulty of finding leisure and endowment, second is thinki

One is to contemplate impermanence, two is to contemplate the faults of samsara, three is to contemplate the manner in which karmic results ripen, four is to contemplate the manner in which karmic results ripen. Five is to take refuge, the foundation of the common vehicle, six is to generate bodhicitta, the root of the great vehicle, seven is the practice and recitation of Vajrasattva as an antidote to purify sins and obscurations, eight is the mandala as a means to perfect the two accumulations, nine is the guru yoga to quickly receive blessings. Incidentally, there are ten stages of receiving empowerment. Among them, the first is the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment. One should think like this: Alas! I have now obtained the precious human body with eighteen leisures and endowments, which is very difficult to obtain again and again, and if obtained, it is endowed with great meaning. At this time when it is only obtained once, one must not waste or lose it, but must obtain the essence of leisure and endowment, and truly practice the supreme Dharma. So, how to obtain the eight leisures? In the Great Commentary on the Eight Thousand Verses, it says: "Hell beings, hungry ghosts, and animals, barbarians, long-lived gods, and wrong views, those without Buddhas, and the mute, these are the eight unfree states." As it is said. If one is born in the three places of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals, then one is always busy with the appearance of suffering and has no time to practice Dharma. Long-lived gods are full of wealth and enjoyment, and have no strong intention to escape from samsara, so the basis for hearing and thinking is interrupted, which are the four external unfree places. If one is born as a human being, but is a barbarian who has no intention of entering the Dharma, a wrong-doer who does not believe in karmic results and falls into the extreme of slander, a mute who has no ability to understand the meaning of words, and a land without Buddhas, that is, a dark age in which even the name of the Three Jewels is not heard, these four are the four internal unfree states. I have not been born in any of those eight places, and I have obtained this leisure, how fortunate! Thus, one should diligently practice Dharma with joy in obtaining the eight leisures. Moreover, one also possesses the ten endowments, namely the five self-endowments and the five other-endowments. First, the five self-endowments: "Having a human body, born in the central land, having complete faculties, not having reversed karma, and having faith in the place." As it is said. I have obtained the precious human body, the basis of the gods and Dharma, and was born in the central land where the Dharma abides.
