"Compassion pervades and self-manifests." Thus it is said. In the Transcendence, it is said, "When wisdom self-awareness abides, it is inseparable in the manner of three." Thus it is said. In the Garland of Pearls, it is said, "In the primordially pure, it cannot merely be said to be mistaken. Likewise, what is not mistaken? Therefore, mistake is primordially pure." Thus it is said. Such is the meaning of primordial purity, the three of awareness, abiding, and letting be. In the Precious Lamp, it is said, "From the nature of the three of awareness, abiding, and letting be, the very meaning of primordial purity is manifested." Thus it is said. Second, to leave the appearing awareness nakedly: From that state, whatever subsequent consciousness arises, without conceptualizing it, without deliberately grasping it, without liking or disliking, without doing any fabrication or alteration, leave it as it is. By simply knowing how to look at its own face, the collection of thoughts will become self-liberated. For example, just as waves arise in the ocean but do not go beyond the nature of the ocean's water, so too, however thoughts arise, by gazing intently at the face of whatever arises, it is like tying a knot in a snake and throwing it into the sky, it goes to self-liberation. That is also said in the Transcendence: "The awareness that arises, like a snake's knot, is self-liberated. Since there is no antidote, cease striving. Its very essence is primordially liberated." Thus it is said. In the Array of Atoms, it is said, "Unobstructed potential manifests in any way. In the very arising, it is liberated in its own place. It cannot merely be said to be liberated. Likewise, what is not liberated?" Thus it is said. Therefore, without doing any welcoming or sending off, accepting or rejecting, negating or affirming of the arising thoughts, but letting them be in their own arising state, this is making thoughts the path as the play of dharmata. In that, the way to leave awareness nakedly is: although outer appearances radiate in various ways, the mind is not moved by appearances, like a mural in a temple. Although inner appearances appear in various ways, there is no grasping to them, like a person in a dream. Although the six objects are experienced in various ways, there is no hope or fear, like the consciousness of a young child. The movement of thoughts subsides in its own place, like salt dissolving in water. There is no fixation on what arises, like a madman. At that time, abiding goes to the primordial state. Radiating arises as the play of wisdom. Being equal lets be in the state of equality, so however one abides, one does not go beyond the play of dharmata. Therefore, it does not matter what kind of virtuous, non-virtuous, or neutral thoughts arise, but gaze intently at the face of whatever arises.

Looking at it. Because it becomes self-liberated and abides, a self-awareness will arise. Third, introducing the essence of abiding and moving as inseparable, the union of calm and insight: That is, through meditation, the abiding in one's own place and the movement of thoughts radiating out are also inseparable. The abiding and the radiating are like the going and staying of a single person. The calm abiding where thoughts subside in their own place and the insight that sees reality nakedly without obscuration are also of the same essence in meaning. That is, outwardly, appearances are uninterrupted, and inwardly, appearances and mind are inseparable, free from the stain of clinging to them. Clearly. Brightly. Yere. Walla. Nakedly. Che re. Flashingly, it appears. When that appears, do not do anything contrived or artificial, but remain in the natural state of self. Fourth, mixing whatever appears with the cause of self-liberation: First, self-liberation of the three poisons: That is, it does not matter which of the three, desire, hatred, and ignorance, arises. For beginners, there is no time to use conceptual thoughts as remedies. Therefore, whatever form those three take, as soon as it arises, immediately catch up with it with mindfulness, grasp it firmly, and stare at the nature of what has arisen. Without abandoning its form and without deliberately clinging to it, but remaining in its natural state, it will be liberated into non-clinging. Second, self-liberation of the five senses: Similarly, whatever clinging arises to the five senses, such as the eye, stare at its immediate nature and remain in its natural state, and as before, it will be liberated into non-clinging. Third, self-liberation of the six consciousnesses: That is, for the object of the eye, beautiful and not beautiful; for the object of the ear, sound pleasant and not pleasant; for the object of the nose, smell fragrant and not fragrant; for the object of the tongue, taste sweet and not sweet; for the object of the body, touch soft and not soft; for the object of the mind, represented by thoughts of joy and not joy, in short, it does not matter what kind of large or small thoughts, virtuous, non-virtuous, or neutral, arise. By staring at the very nature of what has arisen, eventually the thoughts will become weak, unable to persist, and will tend to self-pacification, abiding in this and becoming self-aware, so that virtuous actions can overcome obstacles and proceed smoothly, this is what I have heard from the teachings of the holy ones. This completes the instructions on Trekchö. Second, the essence of meditation, the spontaneous wisdom manifest...
