Therefore, the tantra says: "By looking back at the moving nature, without abandoning, it self-liberates like a snake knot." Also, the *Boundless Bliss Sutra* says: "The nature of mind without a root, cannot be found by searching, it is without grasping. In suchness, in suchness, in the state of emptiness, it is inexpressible, self-born wisdom." Thus it is said. Third, introducing emptiness as appearance: Although the essence is emptiness, it is immutable, and because its own power is uninterrupted, it appears in any way. The tantra says: "Unobstructed power appears in any way. It is aware of emptiness and clarity, and does not change." And: "The nature of emptiness appears in any way. The characteristic of appearance is without arising." Thus it is said. Fourth, introducing appearance and emptiness as non-dual: Thus, appearance also has no other cause or condition. The self-power of emptiness, like the moon's reflection in water, is the non-duality of appearance and emptiness, abiding in the essence of individual self-awareness. As the *Sun and Moon Conjunction Sutra* says: "Whoever realizes that the objects that appear through conditions are without inherent existence, for them, appearance and emptiness are non-dual." Thus it is said. Fifth, introducing non-duality as self-liberation: Thus, the self-born awareness of the non-duality of appearance and emptiness is self-luminous, clear, free from elaboration, uncompounded, and spontaneously accomplished, therefore it is self-liberated in the realm of the three bodies. As the *Subtle Arrangement Sutra* says: "Complete Buddha is self-awareness itself. Its essence does not change in the three times." Thus it is said. Sixth, introducing the self-liberation of the five poisons: Whatever conceptual thoughts arise in the form of the five poisons, such as anger, one should focus intently on their essence and completely let go. Then, without abandoning anger, it self-liberates into clear and empty wisdom. Similarly, desire liberates into bliss and emptiness, delusion liberates into non-conceptuality, pride and jealousy manifest as the self-luminous, primordial essence, and liberate within the nature of the five wisdoms. As an example, whatever unwholesome conceptual thoughts arise, such as the root afflictions and the twenty secondary afflictions, one should know that all are self-arising and self-liberating. As the *Vast Expanse of Clarity Sutra* says: "The one is the basis of all samsara and nirvana. Self-born wisdom arises from itself. Knowing that is called simply wisdom." Thus it is said. Seventh, introducing the self-liberation of the six aggregates: Likewise, by looking at the appearances of objects and subjects, gathered by the six aggregates, such as form, and the subtle or coarse conceptual thoughts that arise, one knows that they are without inherent existence.

Furthermore, in the great self-liberation of primordial emptiness, as the "Union of Sun and Moon" says: "Who realizes that the objects appearing through focus are without inherent existence? Here, appearance and emptiness are not two." In short, the spontaneously arising awareness is self-liberated in the nature beyond bondage and liberation, in the realm of primordially pure simplicity. Therefore, it is the ultimate reality that transcends what is to be meditated upon and the meditator. As the "Cutting Through" says: "Self-awareness is free from all conceptual thoughts, possessing the four great liberations. Primordially liberated, there is no need for re-cultivation. Spontaneously liberated, there is no need for antidotes. Instantly liberated, it vanishes upon seeing. Completely liberated, there is no effort." Thus it is said. Moreover, to exhaust the root in the unborn and hand it over to one's own face, to firmly establish it in the unceasing and cut it off in one place, to decide in the non-dual and practice in the spontaneously liberated place, what is said is not different from the meaning just mentioned. Third, instruction is given on the basis of experiential meditation, divided into instruction in the state of one's own abiding contemplation and instruction in the play of one's own radiant wisdom. The former, as the "Precious Garland" says: "From the nature of the three fixations, the meaning of primordial purity naturally manifests." As it is said, like the mountain king fixation, the body remains unmoving in the seven-point posture of Vairochana; like the ocean king fixation, the eyes gaze straight ahead without moving, about an arrow's length away; the awareness fixation, the mind is not defiled by the conceptual thoughts of the past, present, and future, and the present awareness is clear and without grasping, naturally abiding in its own nature, without acceptance or rejection. O fortunate ones, do not be distracted by this present, self-luminous, naked awareness, but look at it! The stainless, pure Buddha is the unchanging self-aware Dharmakaya, clear and bright, like the autumn sky without clouds. Abide like an unmoving, stable mountain king! Abide like an unmoving, clear ocean! Abide like a vast, boundless sky! No matter how you abide, it is the state of awareness! No matter how it appears, it is the radiance of awareness! Let the self-aware, clear, and lucid state be released! Just as birds, no matter where they fly, do not go beyond the sky, so is the state of awareness. Let all phenomena abide self-luminous and unmoving! Thus, abiding in the clear and lucid state of mind, PHAṬ (藏文,梵文天城体,फट्,梵文罗马拟音,phaṭ,汉语字面意思:啪!), dispel distraction with intention.
