Purify with the sacrificial offering of the secret lord of the peaceful ones, using raṃ yaṃ khaṃ. Bless with oṃ āḥ hūṃ. Offer seven or three times the root mantra appended with idaṃ baliṃ ta kha kha khāhi khāhi. Visualize drawing the essence of the offering with the light of the vajra tongue tube and partaking of it, entrusting whatever activities are needed. Offer conch water offerings to the vase deity, and visualize the vase deity dissolving into light as nectar. Then, purify the form of the nāga planets. From emptiness, the nāga arises from phuḥ, the arrogance of the harming nāga itself, the upper part being the body of a deity with the arrogance of a snake's head, the lower part being a snake coiled into a tail, reaching up to the throat of a crow, marked with pubic hair. The eyes are wide open, fully possessing a terrifying appearance. Note: Visualize adorned with... and jewels. Then, from the hūṃ at the heart of oneself visualized as Vajrapani, radiate rays of light in the form of iron hooks, summoning the leader of the harming ones, as well as the arrogant planetary nāga eight classes, companions, guides, supporters, and the assembly of all beings, reciting akarṣaya jaḥ jaḥ hūṃ baṃ hoḥ three times to merge them. Visualize the nāgas being involuntarily summoned and merging into the image. Holding the vajra bell, with the iron hook mudra, recite: hūṃ! From the midst of the great victorious ocean, the water lord king Varuna, with his eight great ships and retinue, according to the command of Vajrapani, I invite you to come to this place of commitment. nāga rāja samaya jaḥ jaḥ hūṃ baṃ hoḥ. Then, purify the effigy and offering cake. From emptiness, visualize the effigy as beautiful and pleasing, possessing inexhaustible desirable qualities and inconceivable wealth, blessed with the mantra and mudra of the treasury of space. Recite sambhāra seven times, accompanied by cymbals, dedicated to the nāga (planets), visualizing them as pleased and satisfied, pacifying their malicious thoughts. Namo! By the truth of the Buddha's command, by the truth of the Dharma's command..., by the truth of the Sangha's command..., by the truth of the command of the guru, yidam, dakini, dharma protectors, and guardians..., especially, by the power of the truth of the mandala and retinue of the glorious secret lord Vajrapani, the embodiment of all secret mantras and vidya mantras.
