The key points of visualization, which are cherished in all three – recitation, completion, and so forth – are as follows: All phenomena of appearance and existence are merely the play of one's own mind. Since the very nature of mind is pure as the form of a deity from the beginning, there is no deity apart from one's own mind. Apart from the deity, there is no mind-essence. One should rest single-pointedly in the unwavering conviction of knowing that mind and the deity's form are inseparable, clear, empty, and free from attachment. Furthermore, if one has already gained a clear appearance of the deity's form, then even if one does not deliberately create the appearance of face, hands, etc., at this time, one can still draw forth the clear appearance of the deity by the conviction of knowing that each aspect of whatever appears, whatever thoughts arise, is the nature of that particular deity, and the clear appearance of the deity will arise spontaneously. Otherwise, if one has not gained a clear appearance in the generation stage, then not only during the meditative equipoise but also in all post-meditation states, one should take whatever appearances arise as the path by meditating on the deity's form as being without inherent existence, clear but without conceptualization, blissful but without attachment. All appearances are self-appearing and self-arising. All self-appearances are unreal, illusory dances. The deity's form, which is appearance-empty and free from attachment, appears as a pure and vast mandala. If a firm conviction arises, then one will become accustomed to it. Likewise, no matter what sounds are heard, whether apprehended or not, all are sound-empty and free from attachment. That very sound is the indestructible speech of the wind-mantra, the yidam. The wheel of speech-mantra is the inexpressible self-sound, and one should take the conviction of knowing all sounds as the speech of the yidam as the path. Whatever thoughts or memories arise in the mind, by gazing directly at their own face, one realizes that the union free from the grasp of clarity and awareness is the mind of the yidam, the innate wisdom that is non-dual. One should also know that this wisdom possesses two kinds of knowledge, and with unwavering conviction, one should completely abandon oneself into that state of self-clarity and non-grasping, and blend with it. In short, in all situations of both meditative equipoise and post-meditation, one should know that whatever appears is the body, speech, and mind of the yidam deity, and therefore one should not seek it apart from one's own mind. One should train in the inseparability of mind and the deity's form, in the clear, empty, and great bliss that arises spontaneously. Thus it is said. Thirdly, regarding the yoga of recitation, which is a branch of the generation stage, the necessity of reciting mantras is as follows: As it is said, 'Samadhi is like a burning fire, recitation is like the wind that stirs it.' Thus, the recitation acts as the wind that stirs the flame of the samadhi of the clear appearance of the deity.

From this, a flame of power emerges, purifying the defilements of the mind, and power blazes in speech, stimulating the mindstream of the deity appearing as other than oneself. The rosary used for recitation: the best is made of precious gems, the intermediate of tree fruits, and the lowest of earth and stone. For peaceful purposes, use conch shell and crystal; for increasing purposes, use gold and pearls; for subjugating purposes, use coral, red sandalwood, lotus heart, etc.; for wrathful purposes, use iron, turquoise rosary, sengdeng wood, etc. Various activities are accomplished with zi chongwa sos, and it is said that a skull rosary subdues wrathful dakinis. In general, for peaceful yidams, use bodhi seeds, and for wrathful deities, use rudraksha. It is auspicious, and "bodhi seeds multiply immeasurably." Therefore, it is supreme for all activities and accomplishments. The string of the rosary should also be made of three, five, or nine strands spun by a beautiful woman not tainted by the faults of youthful exuberance, with a triple-layered knot holder. Unused by others, it should be washed with the five products of a cow and anointed with fragrant scents, and that itself should be blessed first. If there are special provisions in the respective texts, then do accordingly. In general, with the pride of oneself as the deity, place the rosary in the left hand, with the knot holder on top. After doing this, visualize a sun on the palm of the right hand marked with (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum), and a moon on the palm of the left hand marked with (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: Ah). Purify with Oṃ Svabhāva Śuddhāḥ Sarva Dharmāḥ Svabhāva Śuddho 'Ham From emptiness, on a lotus, sun, and moon seat, the main deity of the knot holder is the father and mother, with the rosary encircling in the form of a retinue. From the three places marked with three syllables, light radiates, inviting wisdom beings who dissolve into it. Offer with argham etc., and praise with a verse or two of the respective praises. Visualize all the deities descending like rain in the form of the syllables to be recited, dissolving into the rosary. Recite the root mantra and (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་རུ་ཙི་པྲ་མརྟ་ན་ཡེ་རཏྣ་མ་ཎི་དྷ་ར་ཛྙཱ་ན་དེ་བ་ཨ་བྷི་ཥིཉྩ་ཧཱུྃ་སྭཱ་ཧཱཿ, Devanagari: ॐ रुचि प्रमर्दनाय रत्न मणि धर ज्ञान देव अभिषिञ्च हुं स्वाहा, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ ruci pramardanāya ratna maṇi dhara jñāna deva abhiṣiñca hūṃ svāhā, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, radiant destroyer, jewel, mani, holder, wisdom god, consecrate, Hum, Svaha) one hundred and eight times. Visualize all the deities dissolving into light and becoming the rosary, the all-pervading dharmadhatu, the three roots, originally arising as the nature of the rosary. By the union of the fingers of method and wisdom, merely counting becomes the supreme and common accomplishment, possessing the power to accomplish without hindrance. After visualizing this, again, at the end of the root mantra, add vowels, consonants, dependent origination, heart essence, etc., as much as possible, consecrate flowers with mantra, scatter them, and pronounce auspicious words, and recite with that rosary.
