These fruits of karma arise in the uncertain period between this life and the next. Second, contemplating to cultivate virtue: Generally, there are eighty-four thousand antidotes, etc., which are inconceivable. But in summary, it is to abandon the previously mentioned ten non-virtuous deeds with the mind, generate the mind of renunciation and behavior of not committing them again with body and speech, and contemplate, "I should always abide in this." Among them, the meaning of abandoning the ten non-virtuous deeds with the mind is: Recognizing that these are all faults with defects, and never wanting to do them. The non-reversal of body and speech means: Not only not doing these ten non-virtuous deeds frequently, but even if there is a time when doing these things is profitable and can be done effortlessly, because of remembering that they have been abandoned with the mind, the mind cannot engage in these actions. For the seven non-virtuous deeds of body and speech, both must be complete, while for the three non-virtuous deeds of mind, only abandoning with the mind is sufficient. Thinking that non-virtuous deeds are undesirable is the mind of renunciation. Knowing in this way is the undeluded conventional wisdom, so it will become an antidote and also the nature of ethics. If the power of the mind of renunciation is strong, even if interrupted by sleep, drowsiness, and distraction, etc., when focusing on that object, it will be recognized as a crime, thereby guarding the precepts. This comes from the power of the seed of the previous strength. Therefore, abandoning the ten non-virtuous deeds with a mind that possesses seeds is the ten virtuous deeds. Moreover, in short, the virtuous deeds of the body, such as circumambulation, offerings, going and coming for the sake of sentient beings and the Dharma, the virtuous deeds of speech, such as praise, recitation, speaking for the sake of sentient beings and the Dharma, etc., all actions of body and speech that are taken up with a virtuous mind, and the virtuous deeds of the mind, such as cultivating faith, respect, renunciation, loving-kindness, compassion, the mind of enlightenment, etc., all that naturally becomes a virtuous mind, should be diligently cultivated, as it is said: Born from non-attachment, non-hatred, and non-ignorance, the actions born from it are virtuous. Now, there are also three fruits of these virtuous deeds: the ripening fruit, the causal fruit, and the dominant fruit. The first is: These virtuous deeds, from the preliminary, main, to the concluding actions, whether or not they are all taken up by a virtuous mind, will make the power of the virtuous deeds have three differences: large, medium, and small. The large one will

With moderate virtuous actions, one is born as a god in the desire realm, and with minor virtuous actions, one is born as a human. The sutras say that even if it is a virtuous action, if the mind is not pure, one will be born as an Asura. Second, the result that corresponds to the cause is: what was said earlier when discussing the ten non-virtuous actions, here it becomes the conforming aspect. As the "Ratnavali" says: Long life, wealth, freedom from enemies, praise, much fame and pleasant words, dignified speech, fulfillment of wishes, inner happiness, and increase of wisdom. These are the ten causes similar to virtue. Great power, good harvests, pleasant scenery, equality between high and low, fertile fields, flourishing plants and trees, suitable seasons, plump grains, delicious taste, and abundant fruits are the results of the ten virtues. Thus, abiding in the ten virtuous actions is the cause of happiness in this life and the next, so it is very important to strive to practice them. Third, uncharacterized actions are: actions that are not influenced by thoughts of virtue or non-virtue, and whose results cannot be predicted as happiness or suffering, such as eating and walking. No matter what is done, it is important to transform it into virtue because time is spent meaninglessly. My eating, walking, and so on, do not produce results and do not become the cause of liberation from samsara. It has been wasted meaninglessly, now I must transform it into virtue in any way possible. Thus, all actions of the three doors should be taken over by the mind of enlightenment. The "Four Hundred Verses" says: For a Bodhisattva who has generated the mind of enlightenment, whether it is virtuous or non-virtuous, everything becomes virtuous, because it is only transformed by the virtuous mind. And as the "Bodhicharyavatara" says: From today onwards, even when falling asleep or being heedless, the power of merit will constantly increase, like the sky, it will arise greatly. Thus, do not look outwards, gather the mind inwards, and whatever you do, persevere to the end on the meaningful path of virtuous actions. Third, summarizing with the Four Truths: Truth means non-deception. From the cause—the arising of karma and afflictions—the result—the appearance of the three realms—also arises from the power of the infallibility of cause and effect, these are the first two truths. By striving for the cause—the aspects of enlightenment—by the result—obtaining the state of liberation.
