Attaining the noble state is also true by virtue of its non-deceptive nature, and it is called the noble truth. Therefore, in general, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana are contained within the four truths, so the practices of those who desire liberation are also invariably contained within the four truths. These are the truth of the origin, the truth of suffering, the truth of the path, and the truth of cessation. First, the truth of the origin is: The fundamental reality, which abides in emptiness that is beyond speech and thought, is not recognized by the co-emergent ignorance. Through the ignorance of imputation, it is divided and grasped as self in relation to the aggregates, thus creating delusion. Because of the arising of self-grasping in relation to the aggregates, attachment arises based on agreeable objects, hatred arises based on disagreeable objects, and ignorance arises based on neutral objects. From the three poisons, the five poisons arise, and this is called the conceptual thought that is the basis of all afflictions. For example, it is like the earth in summer, which causes all actions to arise and be accomplished. Although there are many kinds of actions, the actions that throw beings into samsara can be summarized into three: non-virtuous actions, virtuous actions, and unwavering actions. Of these three, the first throws beings into the lower realms, the second throws beings into the desire realm's happy realms, and the third throws beings into the two higher realms. The classification of actions is as explained above. Therefore, it is crucial to stop the root of samsara, the afflictions, as soon as they arise in one's own mindstream by seizing them with an antidote. As the venerable one said, "When afflictions arise, if you do not promptly stop them with an antidote, Dringriwa, the purpose of Dharma will be lost." Second, the truth of suffering is: The cause is the origin, that is, the result of the afflictions, the three poisons and the five poisons, wandering in the places of the three realms of samsara, constantly tormented and distressed by experiencing the karma and suffering of the six types of beings without interruption. As it says in the Extensive Play Sutra: "By the power of craving, existence, and ignorance, beings, in the three states of humans, gods, and bad destinies, unskillfully wander in the five destinies, like a potter turning a wheel." It also says: "In the three existences, the suffering of old age and disease blazes, here the fire of death blazes fiercely, without a protector. Born from existence, beings are always deluded, like a bee trapped in a jar." In short, the nature of the minds of sentient beings is clear light, which is the essence of the Thus-Gone One.

Although possessing (Buddha-nature), due to sudden defilements, afflictions arise from conceptual thoughts of inappropriate attention, and actions associated with defilements, thus causing the formation of the aggregates, elements, and sense bases of samsara. As stated in the Ratnagotravibhāga: "Through inappropriate attention, actions and afflictions greatly arise. From the cause of actions and afflictions, arise the aggregates, elements, and sense bases." Therefore, according to the difference between non-virtuous and virtuous actions, the aggregates of the lower and higher realms are formed separately. As stated in the Ratnavali: "From non-virtue comes all suffering, likewise all the lower realms. From virtue comes all the higher realms, and happiness in every way." Therefore, driven by the previously mentioned faults of samsara, one should engage in virtuous actions with great enthusiasm and strive to the best of one's ability. As stated in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "By the virtue of what is thought in the mind, wherever one goes, one will be honored with the fruits of that virtue." Thus it is said. Third, the Truth of the Path: The causal condition is lineage, and the dominant condition is the supreme guru, because it arises from practicing the meaning taught by the guru, and realizing the basis as it is depends on the guru. Practicing the path: depends on the individual, and the path to be practiced is the virtue that combines skillful means and wisdom, transforming into the entrance to liberation. As stated in the Sutra: "Wisdom accompanied by skillful means is the path, and skillful means accompanied by wisdom is the path." The Abhidharma also states: "By which path one completely understands suffering, abandons the origin, realizes cessation, and cultivates the path, this is the concise characteristic of the path." Therefore, for the general teachings of the Buddha and especially these excellent stages of the path, combining with one's own faculties, diligently and single-mindedly studying, one will gradually realize the paths of accumulation, preparation, seeing, meditation, and ultimate completion, because obtaining the result depends on actual practice. Fourth, the Truth of Cessation: The basis where all samsaric phenomena cease is emptiness, which is the reality of all phenomena, the nature of reality, suchness.
