Now, the emptiness of the Dharma-nature, which is completely liberated from all extremes of elaboration such as existence and non-existence, pervades all phenomena, and therefore is not different. The Dharma-nature is unconditioned, and phenomena are conditioned, and their characteristics are not the same, so they are not one either. What is that immutable realm that transcends extremes such as permanence and annihilation? That is emptiness. By practicing the path that realizes that emptiness, the truth of arising, the three poisons and the five poisons, and all the paths that are completely taken up by them, are stopped. The result is that the aggregates of suffering and the suffering that depends on them are all stopped. In short, The afflictions on one's own awareness, together with their seeds, are abandoned by disappearing and vanishing in the realm, which is the wisdom of emptiness as the basis of cessation. Because it is a special cessation truth, it is called obtaining liberation and Nirvana. Therefore, the nature of the truth of suffering is the truth of cessation, and the nature of the truth of arising is the truth of the path. The essence of cessation and path, abandonment and realization, is inseparable. It is also said that way. For example, relying on food and behavior that cause disease is arising. Being tormented by the pain of the disease is suffering. Treating it with medicine and regulating food and behavior is the path truth. Recovering without disease is the cessation truth. To illustrate with this example, stinginess hindering generosity is arising. Becoming poor and destitute is suffering. Giving charity is the path truth. Abandoning the suffering of poverty in the future is the truth of cessation. Understand the principle of cause and effect with this reasoning. In this way, after diligently studying the meanings of what has been said above, in order to undertake the great task of attaining Buddhahood solely for the benefit of all sentient beings, it is necessary to seek a special refuge. That is, the Three Jewels are the complete exhaustion of faults, the complete perfection of qualities, and have the power to save all sentient beings, so rely on them alone with wholehearted trust, taking refuge without any hesitation. Then, for immeasurable sentient beings, cultivate the four immeasurable minds, such as compassion, as a basis, relying on the aspiration to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of others, and the path to realize it.

That is, entering, one should generate two kinds of Bodhicitta. That is, for the aspect of the mind of aspiration and entry, it is called Bodhicitta, and for the ritual, it is called generation. After practicing these two minds and wisdom intimately, placing the mind in a state without roots is the true Bodhicitta. And the way to generate it from the ritual is as it is said in the Ornament of Clear Realization and the treatises of the noble Nagarjuna. Therefore, in order to lead from those common and special stages of the path that have been said, according to the treatise of whichever one is relied upon, so that the need is accomplished, so here it is only so far for the time being. Therefore, if one does not depart from such key points, there will be a situation where practice is integrated into meaning. Therefore, do not let this Dharma become an addition to attachment and aversion, but strive to practice the Dharma that is learned to the best of one's ability in one's own mindstream. Words of encouragement to accomplish great benefit for oneself and others. With the immaculate teachings and the oral instructions of the Lama, as instructed, I have spoken a little, who can describe the vast other shore? However, just as taking a drop of water from the great ocean can eliminate suffering. Just knowing the direction of entering the path can also gain an infallible understanding of what to take and what to abandon. From this, with the excellent great ship of virtue, propelled by the wind of increased intention, may all beings sail from the great ocean of samsara to the precious island of liberation. Thus, in order to clarify the common preliminary path stages, this work called "The Jewel Staircase" was written down by the mediocre Immovable Vajra for the sake of easy entry for beginners. Common Preliminary Dharma Teaching "The Jewel Staircase." Immovable Vajra.
